Over the past 5 years, I've been noticing the declining lines for this beloved ride. I have also heard many rumors for the removal of the Corkscrew. I wonder if they could keep it around longer if they REVERSED the trains. Why not? The corkscrew has essentially the same rolling stock as Vekoma boomerangs? Think of how exciting it would be to go through the corkscrews backwards!!!!
Um, Cedar Point will not ever get rid of a coaster.
What's wrong with short lines anyway?
Hey PO!NT FAN never is such a strong word. Does the name Jumbo Jet mean anything to you. In all honesty the only ride has sits on any land of value is Disaster Transport. If you ride the Space Spiral you can see how big that wharehouse, I mean building actually is.
Since we are talking about the Corkscrew, can someone out there PLEASE call maintenacne or planning and design to get some logos on those Corkscrew trains. PLEASE.

I've read before that this old ride is literally falling apart. It's a classic and I don't think they will ever get rid of it... but they do need to renovate it... bad, and not just weld brittle steel together and hope it will last forver...

CP the best... and if you wanna argue that I'll take you down...
Back to the original topic: I think that riding Corkscrew backwards would be an awesome experience. It would be a perfect idea for its 25th birthday (next year)!
This one has to stay it was my first real coaster ride back when I was 11. Before that it was the CCMR for me baby.

Yeah, put a vintage Seventies Arrow looper train backwards. That's pure genius. I can feel my ears bleeding already.
I wouldn't second guess the ride's popularity. I actually witnessed a half-hour line Saturday.

Besides, they just re-worked the controls on it again...

I know they made some changes to it within the last few years. One obvious change is the prox sensor for pedal postion on the train. It used to be a mechanical switch with a bunch of trip wires sticking out of it.
I'd like to see the Corkscrew run backwards.

See my Po!nt?

The thing that I hate about arrow loopers are the seats. They are so uncomfortable. If they put seats like on B&M coasters Corkscrew would be better. Vortex at King's Island would be awesome with some more roomy seats.

Well, 'never' is a strong word, but I know that Cedar Point will not be getting rid of any coaster (no matter how bad the shape is, as they will always try to fix them). They want to keep the coasters because so many people can relate to them when they visit the park. They never said that they won't move it or modify the ride. Maybe they are going to take it apart and relocate it someday. Who knows, except they won't be getting rid of any coaster. This was stated in a paper I read one time (which was talking about the Magnum Rumor) that they will not ever take a ride out no matter how bad it gets.
I think he was mostly trying to get across that Magnum wasn't sinking but I don't think they would lie and say something like that. Again I could be wrong. We'll see! ;)
The way I came up with this idea is by comparing the Corkscrew to Vekoma boomerangs. Their tracks and trains appear to be very similar. So, I thought, hey, boomerang loopers run backwards, why not the Corkscrew? Cedar Point lacks a backwards coaster!
They also lack a LIM launched, B&M Dive Coaster, Heartline Spin, Airthrust, floorless, and a flying coaster....I hope to see CP catch up to these trends within' the next 30 year :-)

The backwards train idea is pretty sweet. Did anyone else notice that the restraints on corkscrew look differnt this year? I think they are new, they don't seem as bulky as they used to be.

Somewhatchewy, Do they play Kryptonite at Cedar Point in the queues, becuase I love that song. It's awesome!
I would not mind Corkscrew as much if the got rid of the instant headach inducing over-the-shoulder restraints (wishful thinking). A lapbar would do just fine, but then were talking all new trains.

Oops... I rode it again!
Joker's Revenge at Fiesta Texas is a backwards running looper, although it is a Vekoma ride. I am not too familiar with the differences between an Arrow and a Vekoma as far as roughness goes. I would definitely like to ride the Corkscrew backwards. Just imagine the bunny hop before the loop, what a jolt that would be! Also, the Joker's Revenge is much newer, so I am sure that makes it smoother already, but someone who has ridden this ride comment please.

You know, with it being Corkscrews 25th anniversary and all the rumors about a new looper.... ??? coughSon of Beastcough Do you think they may be planning a big celebration? You know just thinking about a new coaster gives me an idea? Wouldn't it be cool if they made the drop go right down to water. Perhaps the water by Snake River Falls. It would be like you were going to go under. Well sorry for going off subject. Corkscrew is great except the headache.
