I rode Dragster today (wednesday)

We have been waiting so long for the 420 foot monster to open up. Some of us traveled from all around the world just for this ride, and some of knew that it was closed. But there are a group of people that I nickname the "hopefuls", the people who won't give up on this ride. The people who wait outside the gate just because there is little possibility that the ride may open, might it be a test run or something.

But just like magic, it worked for them today around 6:30. I became part of these people who would just sit outside the gate in a long line watching the Top Thrill Dragster do about an hour of test runs, the green and red train still were filled with water torsos. All of the sudden, they start unloading the torsoes, and people don't know if this is a good sign or a bad sign, but all the sudden we see a test rider get on. An incredible roar of relief and happiness runs all throughout the park, and for me and my fellow hopefuls? We only had to wait about twenty minutes after the line opens and get on and off the Dragster. The line stretched from the entrance all the way back past the skyride.

The ride was a repeat amazing, instead of noticing the speed, I wanted to take in every inch of track going up, over, and down.

Unfortuneately, the ride was down again less than an hour later while I was using my freeway pass on Millenium Force. The wait was a three hour wait for everyone who was at the gate when I got back and everyone was sitting on the ground since they didn't make it into the gate in the endless line. The announcer who was getting cheers for walkign towards the entrance gate with the height stick was now telling all of the guests "attention all guests, Top Thrill Dragster is down due to Mechanical problems, we strongly suggest that you enjoy the many other Cedar Point attractions."

I feel lucky, it opened on saturday and I got to have my first ride and it opened today and I got to ride it for a second time. Maybe it is a pattern when I go, I am starting to feel lucky. Though it was an incredibly busy day, lines were longer than on Saturday though the parking lot wasn't as full, I got to ride Millenium Force three times, Wicked Twister twice, Magnum Twice, and Top Thrill Dragster once. But after I got off of Dragster, my day was done.

Here is a tip for everyone wanting to ride Dragster in the next few days. If you see test riders or photo booth employees getting ready, then it will probably open. Also expect numerous breakdowns and the fact a ride is by no means a sure thing.

I'm just getting ready to head out, and I think I am going through a little TTD withdrawal. The site say's it'll be open, and from what you guys have said it sounds like there's a pretty good chance. A day at CP is always great, but with Dragster it's just a little bit better.

Gee ! the kid is happy ,their isn't anything wrong with that. I would be excited and ready to let the world know I got to ride it too .I just hope Im as lucky when I go again.

Im still waiting for my first ride after being there twice !

I was at CP on wednesday with my g/f and there were big signs at all the entrances saying TTD will be closed today. I just couldn't understand why people were sitting along that fence for hours and hours for a ride that was probably not going to open. You know that once that ride starts running you have about 30 minutes of uninterrupted ride time before it breaks down for 5 more hours. It's just too unreliable this early. People wait for this thing to open for 5-6 hours and then get in line, only to be disappointed that it's broken down again. It did start to run towards the end of the night. I saw 4 or 5 trains running at a nice interval with full cars. I'm not sure how long that trend lasted, but it was nice to see. Remember WT last season. That ride would always be down to mechanical problems and have other issues. They worked on it over the fall and winter and got it ready for the season. WT has not broken down or been down for very long during any of my trips to the point this year. It's running good and hopefully we will be able to say the same for TTD. Right now, it's still new and hopefully later in the season it will be running great.

Yay! It looks as if the ride has been open for a few hours now and that status page does say that it is currently in operation. So I guess everybody that is going today is going to get to ride it. Hopefully it will be up for awhile, they were working awfully hard on it yesterday as I was watching them.

I was actually in the front seat of the blue train when it broke down. I got out and sat in the station for another 2 hours and eventually left. I found it funny how right after Sandor left, the ride went down. Anyways, word around the campfire is that Bob Wozniak's game of solitaire froze up the computer system in the control booth. ;)

Glad you have a sense of humor about the whole fiasco ejector205. I bet it was an illegal operation causing a fault in 1102355.vxd ;).

Anyway we walked by just as it broke down and was wondering were Sandor went. I said he was probably in a jet back to Switzerland :)

It was kind of funny today...there were big signs everywhere saying TTD was open, and the queue lines were open. The funny part was the fact that maybe 20 trains were launched all day, and eventually none were being launched. There were people who waited all day, and are probably still waiting to ride this thing. Even if I had driven 20 hours to ride this thing, I still wouldn't want to waste my whole day standing in line, especially knowing that you might not get to ride at all.
