I miss 11pm closings...

One thing I have really missed this year is the 11pm closings during the weeknights. I realize it is now August, and it typically starts getting darker a little bit earlier, but I have missed the extra hour of riding, let alone that extra hour being during the darkness when the park takes on a whole new light (no pun intented).

Also it seems after 9pm, the park really starts to empty out and it was nice to have the time going from ride to ride without much waiting. In the past that would be about two hours; enough time to start up by Raptor and make the swing to maxAir, WT, and then the loop hitting night rides on Magnum, Gemini, and others before ending at Millennium for the last ride of the day. Now theres just no time for that.

I know Halloweekends are coming and there will be lots of night riding then and I can't wait. However, there is just something about being there in the summer, taking your time during the day when it can be very hot and crowded, and then hitting all the rides in the cool of the evening, feeling that cool breeze off of Lake Erie and looking around the park full of lights.

Anyone else?

Bad, very bad... We'll be seeing the end to 10 pm closings during the week, and 11 pm closings Friday and Saturday.

I miss the midnight and 11pm closing to....I drive two hours so I like it when I could be there an hour or two later to get more night rides in.

I miss them too! I was just talking to my son about this today while at CP. His first trip was when he was three and we rode Calypso at 12 am at his request! Picture a three year old at midnight, I was amazed that he was still going. We had a blast that day (and night)!

I do too. I just do not have the time to get up there early, and now with the 10pm closing, it is just pointless to even go. With my season pass, I have only made it up to the point 1 time this whole year.. I wish it would stay open later like before.

I went there the longest days of the year (June 21-22) and as soon as it got dark I only got MF 2 times before closing. It kinda stinked.

When I went in high school (early 90s), they were always open until midnight it seemed. We'd stay at Camper Village and always walk back to the camper after midnight.

High school was a long time ago for us "Old folks", Tim...

:sigh:

I just stay at Lighthouse Point for 2 or 3 nights. That way, I can wander over to the park whenever I feel like it, or wander back to the cabin for foor and refreshments and a rest.

Employees don't miss 11pm or midnight closings at all. I pitied the Dragster crew during my Summer at CP. I worked there for one week and I remember the worst being when I worked 8am-2am and had to be at work at 8am the next day too.

haha... way to bring everyone back down to earth. i agree drew, i mean, if you want to stay at the park until midnight or whatever, go on a friday or saturday. Yeah the lines are bigger, but it clears up late and you can power ride all you want. It just doesn't make any financial sense to stay open that late on a weekday when nobody is at the park. I'm sure CP saves ALOT of money by closing an hour early on weekdays.

I have never worked at CP but why would they have you work a shift like that? Wouldn't it make more sense for the employees sake to have a morning/afternoon shift and a afternoon/night shift? That way you could at least get a good nights rest.

I know there must be a reason why it's not like this. Anyone know why?

101 on Magnum and counting...

When I worked at CP back in 2000, during midnight closings I wouldn't get out until about 2am....And then I'd have to be back at 8am.

There is no particular reason other than that's just how it is.

They look for younger people to be employees for such positions. If you can't handle that, then you are old :p
