What other coasters use the side by side? The only one I've seen with a station like that is King da Kak.

Big Thunder Mountain at WDW uses side-by-side stations and has done so effectively for many years.

Isn't X at SFMM side-by-side? I wouldn't know as it has been CLOSED everytime I've been there... lol
"Bring back the Penguins!"
Well, the last time I was at Disney was 92 and BTM was closed. I am going back in September for my honeymoon though, so I'll have to check out the side by side.

X-Flight at GL also uses a side by side station, mostly when they are using three trains. It would seem to me that the stacked station is just as effective as the side by side station, because they are still loading only two trains at once, but the negative thing is that with a side by side station, the track that toggles back and forth to get the trains back onto the main track might brake.
X is not a side by side station. Luckily I got on X after waiting 3 hours while it was broken. They put the people into two lines to load each side of the train, but it is still a stacked station. It is like putting people into two lines in Raptor, 2 people per side but only one train being loaded.
That leaves only two coasters that I know utalizes a side by side stations; BTM and Kingda Ka. The only coaster that I have seen using this is BTM and that really works out well for them. The line really zips along. *** Edited 6/8/2005 3:36:07 PM UTC by Top Thrill 182***
Thrills Around the Corner!
"X" is definitely a single-train station. With trains that big, fitting one inside a building seems tedious.
"Superman: Ultimate Flight" at SFoG also uses side-by-side stations.
Storm Runnner at Hershey is side by side. It has about the same ride length has TTD to clear the brakes Even though it only has 3 trains capacity is the same as TDD, as there is always a train waiting to launch. For short rides (like rockets) or rides that take a while to load (like flyers), i think they make more sense than having 50 million trains running around like on dragster.

Thanks for the clarification on X at MM. 3 trips to SFMM, 0 rides on X. Could be I got it confused with X-Flight at GL. I know I've seen anotherone at a SF park, just can't place which one it was. Maybe I have something in my picture archives... heh heh
"Bring back the Penguins!"
Storm Runner only has two trains. Something interesting I noticed when I was at Hershey a few weekends ago - there's no transfer track on SR. One of the stations doubles as a maintenance track, complete with catwalk underneath and removable rail for easy wheel access.

Doesn't Superman at SF Great America have a side by side station?
Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.
X-Flight does use a side by side station when its slow they use the main side where the track doesnt flip.

Man, it seems all anyone is talking about these days in even the General forum is MF... anyway I do wish there was someway to improve the blocking with MF. We can not dispatch a train until we get the "Dispatch Enable" lights on our controls. This takes place anywhere from between when the train is exiting the second tunnel, to when it is entering the final overbank. In 3 train operation this works great... In 2 train op, if we dispatch right when we get a "Dispatch Enable" light, the train leaving load will block stop at the top of the lift. Pretty fun if you ask me, but not very fun when you get a phone call from Park Op...
