I AM SO SORRY to ask this question for the 1,000th time but does anyone know if I-280 is open yet? I am heading down there tomorrow morning from Michigan and wanted to check if I had to take the detour again... Thanks!!
Cedar Point - An adventure waiting for everyone.
Yes I-280 is open. I came from I-75 heading down to the Turnpike and traffic moved just fine. The speed limit is 35mph and I fully understand why (yikes!!). The bridge construction is on track to be finished next month. It looks great.

I cant wait until they are done with the whole thing! The bridge looks awesome though. I will give them that.
Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast
It gets pretty tight under the bridge where the highway becomes a two lane maze in between the bridge supports. The speed limit is 35 through most of it and they mean it. The turns are tight and hard while the road is very uneven. Be alert.
Maybe the bridge and Maverick will open together!
I have a question though. I take I75 from the bridge and take the I280 to the Turnpike. I've also seen that I75 actually crosses the Turnpike. Does anyone take that way? Is it an easier route?

^As of right now, the I-75 route is safer, during the construction, but I-280 is more of a shortcut to the Turnpike. Here's a map:

That's the route I suggest, and there's no problems going that way. It will be much nicer when the new bridge gets opened though.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
The whole 2 lane highway scares me on Route 2. Interstates are much safer and worth the $1.75 toll to me at least.

I've had to take that route for at least the past few trips. It's about 10-15 minutes out of the way from the I-280 route, I believe. However, if you don't trust your driving skills to be, say, street tuner status, I-75 might be better. ;)
I made it through the maze in the construction I280 last week so I'll stick with it Monday.

I love the "maze" of I-280 when there are no other cars around, it makes me love driving my Firebird even more. LoL. It will have to do for now too untill I can get to CP in a month or two.
I-280 is a little scary sometimes when your weaving through with a truck behind you, next to you and in front of you knowing they cant cut corners as well. EEK! When I was working at CP i remember hearing about that terrible accident that killed around 6 people in an SUV on rt 2 from my hometown of Detroit. It was so sad. It is dangerous but its a beautiful drive. Sure safety weighs out beuty; but I still take it.
