OK - I've gotta say it, and I don't care one tiny bit about being flamed..... but "Maverick" is totally disappointing.
I know there must be many out there that agree with me.
If you feel the need to bicker AT me for saying this, don't waste your time, it won't affect me or make me change my mind in any way at all. in fact, i'll just laugh at you for being CedarPoint FanBoys/Girls.
This coaster seems L A A A A M E.
I'll totally fall asleep with boredom while falling a horrifying 100 feet to the ground. And OOH OOH, a few corkscrews, WHOA BOY.... but wait Coaster-Fans, they're CLOSE TO THE GROUND TOO, OOOh-Boy!!! i'm so excited i can hardly stand it.
Millenium Force is the best and CP shouldn't have even bothered doing ANYTHING less.
The first poster to actually type out the soul-numbing response of "OK - you think it's lame, so don't ride it!!!" or "more rides for me!!!" needs to just slap themselves immediately for being 100% predictable and as boring as "Maverick" will be. hahahahaha!!!!
thank you, and goodnight.
p.s. Horses suck.
It's not the money that's the problem. I'm dropping so many Hamiltons it's like I'm Burr or something.
Wow that's an extremely lame analogy.
You should be first in line to ride "Maverick", you'll fit right in.
Oh my gosh this coaster"maverick" look pretty cool, I like the theme and the whole lift and launch....I mean how can you say disappointing....won't say nothing else but looks sweet and different! Wait till next year and ride it then see what you have to say. Peace!!!!!
You're insulting me for wanting to ride a coaster that looks damn fun?
Somehow I think you're missing the point of what an insult is supposed to be...
I am a little disappointed that it isn't a 500 footer but this makes sense for the park and the general public. This is exactly what the park needed, to round out it's collection. They really didn't need a record breaker but a good ride that executes well and I think this one fits that description..
in response to "Leader5gkt" 's post above :
^ LOL
ok, so you're going to ride it and then we'll see what I'M going to have to say. uh.. huh. yeah.
jeez. they just keep gettin' dumber out there.

Honestly, and no offense to the TTD fans, but I think this is the best ride investment that park has made since Millennium.
2007: Millennium Force, 2008: Millennium Force ATL, 2009: Top Thrill Dragster

honestly. it's disappointing.
it's like a vekoma looping coaster only closer to the ground..... i'm just not impressed!
the elements are so un-extraordinary. there's nothing that unusual or ultra-exciting about it at all. i've been traveling to coaster parks for years and CP just should've done something bigger, better and more intense.
You know what? Yes, I am a Cedar Point fan boy. And you know what that means? That means that I respect Cedar Point for everything that is there, including the flat rides, the water park, Lighthouse Point, the shows, the food (though I can't eat much of it now-South Beach Diet :) ), the games, the employees, and yes, the roller coasters. However, I respect Cedar Point's roller coaster collection for its variety more than for its height/speed/inversion prowess. Not everyone wants to ride a 310 foot tall roller coaster. Is Millennium Force a great ride? Absolutely. Is it for everyone? Absolutely not. This coaster will be a ride that everyone in the family will be able to ride and enjoy, and it will still be quite thrilling, in my opinion.
If you think it's lame, then that's cool for you. Don't ride it. But when your younger brother or sister wants to ride it, maybe he/she will get you on it by the end of the season, and you'll realize what a great, fun ride you've been missing all season.

Just because its not death-defying and tall doesnt mean its not one of the best rides at cedar point. The whole 'lets be bigger and faster' phase is over and played out in the coaster wars, and cedar point, like always, was smart enough to realize that. If you want to drop 1000 feet straight down then jump off a cliff and hope theres no water to catch the fall.
