Jeff, I was just wondering about how old the GTTP website is ? I have enjoyed reading but, not posting for the past few years. I hope to see many more years of this wonderful website to come.

The new GTTP has been here since Nov. 1999. That was so last century. I have no idea how long GTTP has existed before that though.

April 28, 1998 was the birthday. November '99 was the last makeover.

That was one of many domains it operated under. The first was under popworld.com, now owned by some Brits who paid-off my car, eliminated my credit card debt, and provided a down payment for my house.

Which is a real shame becasue Old Timer Tim always tells the story to everyone about the post I had when I had my very first solo ride on magnum.  I think if we could go back and bring back one thread that would have been it.

Tim care to share it with everyone?

I remember back when it was rollercoaster.nu

Hey, I really remember the old color scheme. I remember beta testing it, and how much faster it was.

I've also somehow accumulated 635 posts. Wow.

Faster? Are you kidding? The site now runs on a box twice the speed with only one other site on it. Sitting next to the server, everything loads instantly. It's similarly quick on the outside world, unless of course you're on a tiny pipe through a crappy ISP. ;)

I meant for processor overhead, actually.

Back in the day, though, it was a bit slower. Course, the server was, too.

Up until 9/11 (just coincidence, mind you) the site was still running on the Celeron 500 with 256 MB of RAM, where it was for about a year and a half. CoasterBuzz, all of the affiliates, POP Forums, e-mail, DNS etc. was also on the box. In August it was getting beat up, averaging a steady 30% CPU utilization and spiking to a 100% whenever more than one person did a forum search at a time. Ouch!

Then I built the system described in the About section and it never even breaks a sweat. It has power to spare, and runs only GTTP and CB.

Ah yes, the Famous SOLO Ride on Magnum. Since this is a FAMILY site there will be NO retelling of the story here. The ANNUAL retelling of the story will take place around 5:30p.m. (after the 5p.m. show) at The Red Garter on Father's Day 2002...(No GIRLIE DRINKS ALLOWED, unless of course you are a girl)

"I never thought it would happen to me...first let me descirbe myself..."

Suffice to say, the editors of Penthouse Forums are still drooling over the story and are trying to include it in a future edition.
