How much have you lost? What's working for you?

I started my diet/exercise program when I first heard about the MF changes. I am not there yet, but getting closer. I am working out at the gym three times a week with a personal trainer, eating right, doing my cardio every day. My highest weight before I started was 286, my current is 268 and I have lost 18 lbs and 8 1/2 inches over my entire body. I hope to be able to meet requirements by the end of the season.

Congrats Chasity, keep it up. It's amazing to me what will motivate people to lose weight... a ride on MF! The newest weight-loss/exercise commercial!

The Amazement Park

You GO Girl! I am male, but weighed in at 280, a few years ago, but now am at 187. Eat less than 60 FG's a day, and I lost weight. That, and I drank A LOT of WATER.

Never Give Up.

Mr. Scott, I am sorry but, What is FG's? I would like to lose some weight and was wondering what FG's were. Thanks!
Fat Grams? Only thing I could come up with... Oh, and my biggest vice is soda... I love Mountain Dew. Giving that up is harder than when I quit smoking! But I know drinking water instead of soda all the time will be a HUGE advantage in my quest to get to 225 from 270...

Keep up the good work Chasity. It's great that you're dieting, but the exercise you're doing is even more important. Our bodies eventually adjust to cutting back on calories, fats, etc. The more muscle you have, the more efficiently you burn fat, so exercise really is the key.

I've always had great luck losing weight with Weight Watchers. Unfortunately, I'd lose 70 lbs., then start slipping back to my old habits. I've never been a big eater, I don't eat fast food, anything fried, and have always been repulsed by red meat. But I have a sweet tooth, and my life is very hectic. I tend to slip up by not taking the time to fix a good meal, and grabbing whatever I can find in the vending machine at work, or what I can eat while driving. Sometimes I don't eat dinner till after 10 pm, and my time at the gym seems to always take a second place to working late.

I'm using my lack of seatbelt slack as incentive to stick to my diet. Got a MF magnet on my fridge to remind me. Since May, I've also never been to the gym less than 3 times a week, except for the week we went on a trip. But I figure the walking we did at KI, HW and Hersey helped a little. (lots of hills and stairs!)

I don't like the popular Atkins diet. I know people think they're losing faster on it that other diets, (not true) but I think it's harmful in the long run. I think the best idea is sensible, healthy food, in limited portions. (that's how Weight Watchers works) Oh, and drinking more water than you could ever want to drink.

Having been a yo-yo dieter for so long, I know from experience that losing weight is hard, but not as hard as keeping it off. I've never managed to keep my weight off more than 2-3 years. I hope to be successful this time.

In May, I only needed about another 1/2" on my seatbelt to pass the slack test. I might even be ok now (I've dropped a jeans size since then) but I'm not going back this year. I'd want to wait till late in the season to be 10000% sure I wouldn't be humiliated again. But in Sept. it will be colder, and I'd be wearing a sweatshirt or jacket. There goes the slack! If I return to CP, it will be next year.

Good luck to all you fellow dieters out there. Hope we're all riding MF again soon.

I was 267lbs. when I heard at CP and the seat belts on May 23rd. I got it down to 245 by June 27-28th ride time on MF by doing Atkins. I am still on it, and like what I see.

Good luck to all!

How do you know what people think? Everyone loses weight diffrently no matter wat they are doing to lose weight. No one on here stated that they are losing "faster" on it.

You also "think" that it's unhealthy in the long run. These are very frequent misconceptions for people to assume who have no idea how Atkins works. It is very healthy.

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

Yes, it's very healthy only if you take the essential vitamins lost by cutting certain foods. They have those Carb Vitamins out now, I saw it on t.v. I agree that exercising is one of the most important things. You won't lose weight with just a diet program. I do sports constantly, and I can't gain weight, I'd like to get some more meat on me.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Everyone should take a Multivitamin and Calcium supplement no matter what they are doing.

Sure you can. Of course, if you exercise, you'll lose it faster and be healthier ... but you can create a daily calorie deficit without exercise. This is especially true for those with a lot to lose.

My doctor warned me against it. Check out this website: www.atkinsdietalert.org It's written by doctors. (Click on "what's wrong with Atkins")

The reason I said "people think they're losing faster on it" is because I've read that dozens of times, that that's the appeal to a lot of people. Of course I don't pretend to know what anyone thinks. I didn't mean it literally, geez!

My instincts tell me sensible portions of a balanced variety of foods, lots of water, and lots of exercise is the way to go. If Atkins works for you ... hey, that's great. It's better for your health than being overweight. I knew of someone who losts lots of weight eating almost nothing but slurpees from 7-11. He got thinner, but healthier? Do whatever works for you, so we can all get back on the best coaster in the world!

I guess I was wrong about the losing weight only by exercising. Still, excersing is very important, and it will give you a tone body, getting rid of excess, whatever.

I don't need 2 loose weight 2 ride MF, but, I have lost 12 pounds b/c of my high weight. I have lost 12 pounds in a short amount of time by excercise and eating right. I don't starve myself and feel great! I do free weights and walk for 1 hour every ofhter day. It works and is a healthy efficient way 2 loose some weight!
