I've always had great luck losing weight with Weight Watchers. Unfortunately, I'd lose 70 lbs., then start slipping back to my old habits. I've never been a big eater, I don't eat fast food, anything fried, and have always been repulsed by red meat. But I have a sweet tooth, and my life is very hectic. I tend to slip up by not taking the time to fix a good meal, and grabbing whatever I can find in the vending machine at work, or what I can eat while driving. Sometimes I don't eat dinner till after 10 pm, and my time at the gym seems to always take a second place to working late.
I'm using my lack of seatbelt slack as incentive to stick to my diet. Got a MF magnet on my fridge to remind me. Since May, I've also never been to the gym less than 3 times a week, except for the week we went on a trip. But I figure the walking we did at KI, HW and Hersey helped a little. (lots of hills and stairs!)
I don't like the popular Atkins diet. I know people think they're losing faster on it that other diets, (not true) but I think it's harmful in the long run. I think the best idea is sensible, healthy food, in limited portions. (that's how Weight Watchers works) Oh, and drinking more water than you could ever want to drink.
Having been a yo-yo dieter for so long, I know from experience that losing weight is hard, but not as hard as keeping it off. I've never managed to keep my weight off more than 2-3 years. I hope to be successful this time.
In May, I only needed about another 1/2" on my seatbelt to pass the slack test. I might even be ok now (I've dropped a jeans size since then) but I'm not going back this year. I'd want to wait till late in the season to be 10000% sure I wouldn't be humiliated again. But in Sept. it will be colder, and I'd be wearing a sweatshirt or jacket. There goes the slack! If I return to CP, it will be next year.
Good luck to all you fellow dieters out there. Hope we're all riding MF again soon.
i wake up at 615am and im out the door for work at 630am...skip breakfast.....which i shoudnt, i know, prefer sleep lol.....drink lots of water throughout the day, with a little whatever for lunch, who knows,.....than have a good dinner when i get home......the main thing is PORTION CONTROL...i have trouble with that, but am in control as of right now.....its my annual cedar point diet...as i call it....lol

How do you know what people think? Everyone loses weight diffrently no matter wat they are doing to lose weight. No one on here stated that they are losing "faster" on it.
You also "think" that it's unhealthy in the long run. These are very frequent misconceptions for people to assume who have no idea how Atkins works. It is very healthy.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

You won't lose weight with just a diet program
Sure you can. Of course, if you exercise, you'll lose it faster and be healthier ... but you can create a daily calorie deficit without exercise. This is especially true for those with a lot to lose.
My doctor warned me against it. Check out this website: www.atkinsdietalert.org It's written by doctors. (Click on "what's wrong with Atkins")
The reason I said "people think they're losing faster on it" is because I've read that dozens of times, that that's the appeal to a lot of people. Of course I don't pretend to know what anyone thinks. I didn't mean it literally, geez!
My instincts tell me sensible portions of a balanced variety of foods, lots of water, and lots of exercise is the way to go. If Atkins works for you ... hey, that's great. It's better for your health than being overweight. I knew of someone who losts lots of weight eating almost nothing but slurpees from 7-11. He got thinner, but healthier? Do whatever works for you, so we can all get back on the best coaster in the world!
