How early do we get in?

CP says that the GP will get in a 1/2 hour earlier than when the park opens (eg. 9:30 on opening day), and Joe Cool Club members are admitted one 1/2 hour before the gp are... so JCC'ers get admitted at 9:00? please respond, I have to know when I gotta wake up that sunday

Guests of Cedar Point resorts will get in a half hour earlier, not the GP.

I read it as Joe Cool Club being allow into the park at 9:00 AM on Opening Day. That's just my interpretation, so I would call the park's information line to be sure. (419) 627-2350.

I wonder if there will be any special opening ceremonies. Last year, we were allowed to go through the front gates but were held behind a chained off area for 20 minutes or so while the opening day speeches took place. At least that was what occurred at the Main Gate.

Kay

Hotel guests will be allowed 30 minutes early... The general public will get in at the normal opening time.

Joe Cool members will also be allowed in 1/2 hour before the general public on certain days. The official site has the days, but it does start on May 5th. From what I understand, there will be a seperate turnstile at the Main Gates that let us in. As for ceremonies...I have no idea there, sorry :(

If you're like me and you think Cedar Point should get the B/M Flyer in 2004, give me a "Hell Yeah!"

I beleive they changed the gate opening times sometime last season. I think in June. Instead of the gates opening 1/2 or an hour before opening, The gates open to the public at opening. Then on weekends the gates open a half hour before the park. It sounds like they are opening a half hour early for opening day.

I can't imagine that the park would just let a few select people into the park before all the rides open. If they just let the hotel and joe cool people in, they might have enough people to run a couple of the rides, but not all of them. Personally, I think this is stupid. In my opinion, the park should let the GP in 1/2 hour early, like last year (or at least when I went), so they can have people distributed throught the park when the rides open. Then they can still the the joe cool and hotel people in an hour early, like they used to do with the GP.
If you click on the information for each individual day on the CP website calendar, it gives the gate opening time. Some days the gates open at 10 and others 9:30 (10 am for opening day). My guess is JCC and hotel guest will be allowed in at 9:30, and the rest at 10 like the schedule says.
I don't understand why they don't open the gates a little early to let the GP in. By opening the gates when the rides open, there won't be people distributed throught the park. The hotel guests will most likely head for WT or the Force first, and the GP can hit Raptor quickly, but what about the other rides like Magnum? By doing this, they will likely be sending empty trains for the first half hour on rides like Magnum and Mean Streak because people haven't had time to get back there.
It says hotel guests will be allowed in a 1/2 early to ride millenium force and wicked twister. so i would guess the other rides will not be open.

Joe E, I think it says gates open to the public at 9:30 for opening day. The best way I see for them to do this is to have the JCC/Hotel people come in at 9 and the rest of the guests at 9:30. Making it something different each day is only going to serve to confuse both guests and employees. Yes, WT and MF crew members will have to be there earlier, but by making the GP wait until 10, you are going to have all these rides cycling empty at 9:50 or so while guests are waiting to get in and then disperse themselves around the park. Have the ERT from 9 to 9:30, keep WT and MF running so the GP can hop on, and allow all the other rides to start as early as possible before 10.

Whatever they do, the GP should NOT be let into the park during the ERT sessions. They did this a few times last year on JCC days and it caused much confusion and some complaints.

Whatever they've decided, maybe CP could clear this up for us because it is kind of a confusing issue. Perhaps in the FAQ on the website or something.

From what I understand, JCC gets in at 9:00 on opening day, and the GP at 9:30. I would guess JCC would get their ERT, then there will be ceremonies, and then everything will start at 10:00. That's just my guess though. I agree with Matt that the GP shouldn't be allowed in with JCC. Aside from confusion, I saw several near fights at MF when the "winner" of the running of the bulls had to watch JCC members walk right past them.

Yup, MF had near fights and Magnum had the PO'ed JCC members who were mad that we let the GP ride. Seeing as how even after we did so, there was no wait, I don't really understand their beef. I guess I can understand that the JCC people payed extra for their ERT, but at Magnum, we usually had something like 29 riders for the JCC hour, so it was kind of rediculous. It was even more rediculous after they tightened up on the no re-rides thing. People took one ride, but they weren't about to keep walking around while we sent empty trains. Hopefully with only the two rides this year, there will be enough people to fill trains, but not so many where there are long waits and people feel like they didn't get their money's worth.

Another question is where does the WT Red Cross auction ride come in? Before JCC? After JCC but before GP?

-----------------

I can't see CP letting JCC members ride WT before the Red Cross auction winners. I would imagine MF will be available, but WT will not.

Anybody know anything for sure? (thanx for the comments thus far though)
I just got off the phone with one of the general information operators at the Point. They put me on hold while they did some checking and came up with what we did. GP in the gates at 9:30AM-- JJC and resort people in the gates at 9:00AM.
I'll probably give them a call back the day before CP opens just to make sure.
Kay

Thanks Kay! I was wondering if someone had called yet. Sounds like they're doing things the way we'd like on opening day! :) I guess the VIP Red Cross auction will probably be even earlier than 9 then.
