How do you Ride?

When I first started riding coasters, I would have my legs as firmly planted as possible, and my hands attached to the bars in front of me. Then, later in that same day, I tried moving my feet under my seat, and I noticed it gave you an insecure sensation. Of course I would throw my hands up during a great ride. People probably sit in different ways, just want to know in what ways you do?

The best way to ride any coaster no doubt is hands up! Unless the restraints won't easily allow it (Corkscrew, Raptor, etc.) The best way to ride a freefall like Demon Drop or even the "fall" on PT is to sit as loose as possible. On DD, try to sit in the fetal position, feet off the floor, looking down at the floor and arms out, the weightlessness is much more intense.

I'll have to try that. I just hunker down and take a seat when I do it.

I used to squeeze the bars really tight like I was going to die or something. lol. But now I just sort of sprawl out and put my hands up.

Magnum still rocks.

Usually I would hold onto the bar until I was halfway down the hill, whenever I went on a ride for the first time. But I don't do that anymore, a ride is always more fun with my hands in the air.

Currently, I brace my feet up against the back the seat in front of me (I don't want to have the lap bar or seat belt push up against me), except for Raptor, Mantis, and Wicked Twister. And I keep my hands up, except for the smaller coasters (which I must ride for my brother..i.e. Mine Ride, Disaster Transport...those rides I just sit and laugh at my brother who is yelling and holding on for dear life, paying no attention to the ride itself).

Freefall rides...arms and legs straight out. :)

It depends on the ride. MF & Maggie I ride with my feet tucked under the seat in front of me and I hold on for MF's first drop. I tuck my feet whenever possible, including Timbers, but have learned the thrill of having my hands up (and I only was brave enough to try it for the first time a couple of years ago).

Glad I did. :)

At Geauga Lake you ride the back seat of the Villian and when u reach the longer turn around by the station and you still have 3-4 clicks of the lap bar left.......STAND UP IT IS THE BEST FEELING EVER!!!! plus you get a lot of air.

STAND UP!? That's insane! I know on the pirate boat rides, I forget the name, the flat thrill ride, you can jump out of your seat, but to stand up on a ride your not supposed to is crazy. I had a friend once, on Thunder Canyon, take his seatbelt off to jump out of the way of a waterfall. The ops asked about it at the station, and everyone, even strangers, denied him doing so.

Standing up on a moving ride is just plain stupid. Why on Earth would you to do such a thing?

Wise up. Or get dead.

Yeah seriously, that is just plain stupid. You can get injured or even death, or you might end up being booted out of the park. The way i've always ridden was just sitting normally, not braceing my self in anyway, and puting my hands up!
I ride with my arms down, head back, and holding on. Arms down. Arms down. Arms down...:)

ROUNDABOUND.

What kind of ride is the Villain anyway? I mean, standing up on a ride is just wrong, but if it's a decent speed, that could be very dangerous!

Villain is CCI wood, and pretty vicious if you ask me.

Villain is a steel structure wooden coaster with speeds up tp 59mph. Custom Coasters built it in 2000. I find it to be a very fun woodie. Funny thing is that to me, the Villain feels faster than the "Mean Streak" which goes 65. I do still ride MS every time I go to the park. Woodies are my favorite.

Oh, and I would never consider standing up on any coaster. Except Mantis ;) *** Edited 7/7/2004 11:50:27 PM UTC by Jason Hammond***

I always try to lean up and out as far as possible to get the most airtime. Also one time on MF someone in my group suggested that you pick your feet up on the drop, but it didnt change the result at all. Also on the inverted turns of MF, Magnum, and the others with helixes I lean out into the turns, which is awesome on MF if you sit in the second seat. *** Edited 7/8/2004 12:30:50 AM UTC by cp fan***
Anyone who holds on while going down MF's first drop on ther second time riding is a chicken. It's such a thrill.
Just sit and enjoy the ride. The hands do go up sometimes.

I have to say I don't put my hands up all the time; sometimes it's tiring. But a tradition I have is I wear sandals to CP everytime I go. So, when I go on WT or Raptor, I take my shoes off. It's not that they'll fall off or anything, it just feels cool being barefoot!

I love riding with my hands up especially on MF when you're going around the turns on the island you think you're goinna hit it on the poles for the crossing track. The only problem I've had with my hand up while riding MF is f you ride it more than 5 times a day (i rode 14 times in a day during halloweekends) your arms get really sore from the G-force from the bottom of the first hill. Needless to say my arms were like jello that night and next morning.
