We are going to the Point May 21-24. I noticed that when we made our reservations a week and half ago that the wk before we are going (which is the first wk the Point is open) and the wk after we are going the room rates for both these wks were more than the wk we are going. Are the rates based on bookings or historical crowd patterns or what? Does this mean there will be no hugh crowds?
Thanks
Most rides will only be running one train. If there's two trains being run you'll probably see a slower interval than normal due to new employees learning the ropes. Usually what you'll see is the train on the course back to the brakes before the second train leaves the station. It takes some time and patience but interval improves as the season progresses.
You shouldn't see too much of a wait for anything those days.

Ride on, MrScott!
CP very rarely runs just one train, even on dead days. May is typically spent in two train operation on most rides, in preparation for the main part of the season when we go to three.

Monday will probably be your busiest day of the 4 because it is the Victoria day weekend for Canadians and several of us head to the Point on our Monday off. I have been there on that Monday for the past 3 years and there were moderate crowds. If you want to read my trip report from last year it might give you an idea of the crowds. The past 3 years' trips on Victoria day Monday have all been great.

I am a pass holder but I go maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I live in Michigan and its a 4 hr drive so I try to plan trips at the right time. Best times so far have been Weekends before Memorial Day and the weekends before Halloweekends start. I have been going those weekends for the last 7 years and I'll be there again this year.
May and early June are not too bad. I'm going June 10-13. I'll have to deal with the mayflies, but will enjoy my stay at LHP!

What? No Coastermania for MrScott on the 15th?
Edit: Hoosier is correct, I meant two and three, not one and two. An error in haste.
