How close can boats come to Cedar Point?

No, I don't mean in the marina. I mean just to come close to see the rides in operation and maybe take some pics. And to see the lights at night would be a great time. Does anybody know? And, does anybody know what the red flags off the beach are for? Thanks.

The marina is probably the closest you can get. You can get as close as the buoys will allow you in the back of the park near Mean Streak.

A few years ago, during a really windy weekend, I saw a boat beached near Magnum's turnaround area.

So, that close.

If you come up on the beach side not around the buoy area be careful, it's shallow pretty far out. We stayed about 300' off the shore on that side just because we didn't want to get beached or have the prop dig into the bottom.

The only restriction are the no boat bouys that mark the swimming area by the beach. Anywhere else the only restriction is the draft of your boat.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Absolutely stay beyond the marker bouys all the way around -- boats have also beached themselves on the rocks on the maverick/mean Streak side as well
