How busy is opening day?

Its really no different than any other day, but I do remember I think it was in 2000 they wouldn't let anyone past the carousel in order to give a speech about the MF. It was a pretty stupid idea, I couldn't hear a word they were saying. Then when they started letting people in, it was crazy, everyone started running as fast as they possibly could to the MF. This year they might try to do this again, having a new recored breaking coaster again....

Last year I got 3 rides on WT opening day, all without any sort of wait. The first two were front seat, then back seat during JCC. I think I waited 5 minutes for front, and one train for back. Went back at the end of the day and had a 10 minute wait, rode back seat again with only a one or two train wait.

For those of you who avoid the opening day season pass rush, do they charge for parking in the off-season?

Coincidence?

Does anyone know, I was an employee last year, will they be able to make my season pass from the picture I had on my employee ID, or will I be summoned to the Season Pass line of doom.

I think they should make you wait longer Vanessa. lol

Hey Vanessa, I'm almost positive you need to have your picture taken. The employee ID system is not available to the season pass center.

However, I think you may be pleasantly surprised at the changes.

I second Tyler's opinion...come visit Season Passes -- you'll like it.

Oooh - tell me CP finally stepped into modern times and went with a system like PKI's or PKD's! I don't know how they'd have room in that tiny little office, but boy - those systems were impressive I must admit. You walk into a room with no fewer than 20 stations and yes, each one has its own printer! I was done in literally under a minute. That means 20 people go every minute if its fully staffed. VERY impressive!

Ok Tyler and Lee, the problem is I don't think I can make it to the park by 8 pm on Sat. the 3rd. And I don't have time to make an extra 4 and a half hour trip up there to have my pass processed before then. Any suggestions?

Well, now that I've sat and reflected on this awhile, I'm of the opinion that employee ID photos from last year don't even exist anymore. If they did, then employees probably wouldn't need their pictures re-taken at HR every year (oh! we could have ID renewals through the mail... how nice would that be? ^_~).

Getting a new (first-time, non-renewal) season pass always requires that a person spend some quality time at the Season Pass Center. If you can't get to the park by 8 pm on Saturday the 3rd, stay overnight somewhere in Sandusky late on the 3rd, and get up early to dash over to Season Passes first thing in the morning on the 4th. Like Tyler and I said, there are a few changes there that I think will make getting your pass processed much quicker than it has been in the past.

Lee, will season passes be opening early on the 4th?

Sorry about the multiples guys! I had a computer virus that sent 4 e-mails anytime I sent an e-mail so it must have done the same thing with my posts. I just found it and deleted it though, and asked Jeff to delete the extra posts. Again, I'm sorry.

(Too bad about the virus, Vanessa... At least it was one you could get rid of easily! I had KLEZ on my computer a while back and it cost me about $50 to repair...yuck).

As far as hours for the Season Pass Center, I know that it will be open during regular park hours on the 4th; they open up about a half hour before the gates go up if I remember correctly from last year. I'm not sure yet if there would be any special changes for Opening Day. You know the person that would be best able to answer your questions about that right now. ^_~

I ran Norton anti-virus updates and checked again and it found it. It wasn't a hard removal at all! Thank Goodness! Happy Easter.

Is the Season Pass Processing Center going to be open for sure on Saturday May 3rd? Cause in the Season Pass News letter i got the other day said it wasn't yet the website says it is. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure. thanks for the info back! :)

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

From Cedar Point's site...

"Your season pass certificate may be redeemed for a photo I.D. beginning April 23 at the park's Season Pass Center (located at the main gate).

Season Pass Center hours are:

April 23-May 2:
Noon-6 p.m. (Monday -Friday)
10 a.m. - 7 p.m. (Saturday-Sunday)

Beginning May 3* the Season Pass Center is open during regular park hours.

*The Season Pass Center will be open for redemption on May 3, however, Cedar Point is closed to the public and passholders on May 3."

Did the newsletter you received (I haven't seen a copy of one) actually state that the Season Pass Center was closed on May 3, or did it just give the April 23 to May 2 hours and leave May 3 out?

From the information on Cedar Point's website, I would have to say that you can get your pass processed on May 3rd. However, there's no hurt in calling the number that should be on your newsletter and asking before you make a special trip.

It left out May 3rd, i am going next weekend to get my pass processed i will just ask them...it costs money to call out of state ;) but when i am down there i will ask or if anyone else goes before i do please ask and report back if you could. i found it strange that the website said it would be open yet the newsletter says nothing about it. maybe the newsletters were printed before they knew what they were doing for hours this year?

MDOmnis -

I think that CP only has 4 cameras to take SP pictures - that's why the line is so long. We went to Busch Gardens in Tampa earlier this year, and they had about 30 cameras - talk about a fast moving line!

I know that's what they've had in the past. PKI and PKD also have like 30 cameras and at BGW, they have a camera in every ticket booth so people can buy season passes and have a picture right there. I was just asking since Tyler said there was changes in the SP office, but didn't go into detail. As of last year, there wasn't room in there for anymore cameras. It's one area where CP didn't have capacity in mind! :(
