How awesome is Coastermania??

The first trip we will be taking to CP this year falls on Coastermania weekend. I go to CP multiple times a year but have never been there for Coastermania. It sounds awesome from everything I've read but I am just wondering from other's past experiences what the crowd is like, how busy it usually is...etc.

An incredibly packed day. But I suppose it would be pretty fun if you were in a coaster club.

It's always tons of fun. You're with people that share the same hobby (if you will) as yourself and you get time and food devoted just to you (and the rest of the 1000+ fans). Some of my most memorable moments in my almost 10 years of being a CP fan have come from Coaster Mania. The park is usually crowded but that cant be helped. It does help though if you can tolerate a busy day in terms of finding stuff to do that don't necessarily mean riding a coaster. Is that any help?

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about it. The trip to CP is the first stop on a month long drive across country so I guess if it is ridiculously busy we'll just stay an extra day or 2 or 3. :) The thing that sounds the best to me is that you have to belong to a coaster club, so even if the place IS packed...I imagine it's packed with some pretty decent people. (hopefully less line-jumping brats to be specific:)

That made for a good laugh, thanks. Coaster Club membership only gets you into the ERT before and after the general park hours. During the day, the park is open to anyone, not just coaster club members.

I'm sure a Tazer would do the trick. ;)

Let's Get Weird.

Crap. I really thought the whole day was for Coaster Clubbers only. Oh well..it's not the first time I've made a stupid assumption/mistake like that..up until about 2 weeks ago I seriously thought Abu Dhabi existed only as a fictional destination for Odie in Garfield....really...and I'm 27. :)

I'm in the same boat sometimes. Happens all the time when you're in the upper mid 20's.

I cant wait for Coastermania! I missed it last year due to an illnes in my family! I did go to the fall one and it was a blast!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

CoasterMania is traditionally the first Friday in June, and as such it is also traditionally the last day before the first big weekend of summer. While the park is operating for a month and a half before CoasterMania, CoasterMania is truly the start of the season. Everything else is mostly a dress rehearsal. That's typically the weekend that the live shows start, the flowers are all planted, the crowds start to get big, and Cedar Point really starts to look like the place you think of when you think "Cedar Point".

CoasterMania itself is an awesome event, but not awesome enough to keep me away from HoliWood Nights. The fact that I have a Cedar Fair pass but not a Holiday World pass does have something to do with that, though.

I'm guessing this year will be the lowest attended Coastermania in years. I'd bet at least 20% of the normal attendees will down in Indiana.

To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"

I can not believe that Holiday World would schedule Holiwood Nights the same weekend as CoasterMania. Cedar Point has had CM the first Friday of June since the 90's. I was hoping that HW would move/ schedule Holiwood Nights later in the season so that us coaster lovers could attend both events. well since I'm a season pass holder to CP and I'm only a one hour drive from CP, looks like I have to miss my first Coaster Mania and head to Holiday World to check out the new Timberliner trains on The Voyage.

I made a vow this year to get on Voyage and this wont prevent me from doing so. I just can not miss Coastermania........just can't.
