houston we have twist off

it is know a sure thing that it will twist on the way down.

THE QUESTION IS HOW MUCH. 270 OR EVEN 530

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/webcam/demondrop.cfm

that is what i said a while ago. I believe it will be 450 degrees. when going down, first the 90, then an additional 360.
YER 450 IS MOST LIKEY
I think that the 450 would make it far too tall. It will most likely be 270.

wait a minute. are you saying that the coaster would be to tall to ride. or do you mean taller than 400 ft. because nobody knows hoe tall it is going to be.
I think he is talking about the degree of the twist!

Wicked Twister is a great ride! Just because it looks simple soesn't mean it sucks! I wouldn't mind having it in my back yard!

I think since the towers are now bending inward, it should be deduced that it will twist 270 ft. If it were to twist 450, it would have to twist back 90 degrees towards the launch area, and then rotate 360 degrees the other way in order for the track to line up right. Also, that would add another 50 feet to the height of the ride, let alone the top hat as well.

Given the direction of the twist and the direction of travel over the top hat, the only possible degrees of twist are 270, 630, 990 (haha), and so on. We know that the train will come over the top hat facing MF, and we know that after the twist on the way down, it has to end up on top of the track. I'm 99% sure it will be 270.

I don't think it could be anything but 270. Anything more would make a 500 foot tower, not that I would mind.

why not 450? i dont think it will be 270, unless the up is 270 because they will likely have the transition in and out of the tophat the same. I think directly after the tophat, it will twist 90 degrees, somewhat fast, so it is matched with its original ascent angle (vertical before twist), then a 360 degree twist flowing out of the 90, nice and snooth. I doubt they would make it twist into the tophat one direction and twist out the other, (which is required for a 270 degree twist)
btw, whoever made the no limits ride "16 with 270 degree twist" actually put in a 450 degree twist. Like mine.

that is mine. smoother. more gs by mistake. first attempt.

Well....Lets not get our hopes up. It wont go much higher, The tower is closing up from all sides. I think there will be at most 70 more feet to the tower.

MajinX, the key thing here is the direction of the twist on the way down. While your 450 degree idea involves a twist to the left on the way down, we know that it will be a twist to the right. Proof of this can be seen in this picture. Since the highest track connection point in that picture has to connect to the bottom of the track, you can figure out the direction of the twist. I just use my visualize it with my hand - I follow the pullout up to the point where the supports show signs of a twist, and then twist my hand to make sure that the bottom would be touching that highest connection point. If you were on the ride, this direction of twist would be to the right - the same direction as the twist on the way up. I'll see if I can dig up that computer-animated POV of what the ride will probably look like, then you will see what I mean...

Edit: Here is the video with the projected 90 up / 270 down twists...

I still don't think it's going to be 400 feet. If the tophat is closing now and the tower itself is only at 330, 400 seems out of the question,it's nice to hope for and I still hope it is, but I just don't think we will see 400 feet. I say 90 degree twists on the way up and down, 110mph,375 feet.

Hey,we should start a pool, everyone guess a speed, height and total degrees of twist. The one who wins gets a free bowl of dippin dots :)

400 feet is not out of the question! If it's 330 now, and there is still another catwalk, that takes it to 380. Then add another 50 for everything to come together at the point and you have 430 ft. So even if it take 20 feet and not 50 feet to bring it all to a point you are still looking at at least 400 feet.
The ride will break 400 feet, period. It is already well above 300 feet and it the top-hat has yet to take shape. Cedar Point will own the worlds tallest rollercoaster of any layout format on the planet, period! Deal with it, accept it, what is so hard about that!

If you take a look at the twist going down the tower, you will realize that it is (rough estimate) only about 1/2 of the way through the twist. I know for a fact that it has not fully revolved a full 180 degrees as of November 22.

This twist WILL and i repeat WILL be a full 270 degrees. I'm am convinced that this twist will be completely done turning before the track starts leveling out for the tophat.

To BIGD and MFJEDI, I notice the supports on both sides are starting to point inward. If you figure out where these will intersect however, you'll realize that there is a long way to go before this tower reaches it's max height.

I seriously believe that saying this ride is going to max out above 400 feet is not just getting our hopes up. I am SOO STOKED for next year.

Ryan - After they put the last catwalk up, all three columns will be mitered to a greater angle then they are at now and will come together about 50' or so above that catwalk. Don't assume that the angle of the columns will stay the same all the way to the top. If it did, the ride would top out at over 600' and that won't happen.
