Hours?

We decided last minute to trek down to the park last night. We arrived about 8 and planned on getting maybe 2 rides in. Crowds were kind of thin, so we were able to get Magnum, Power Tower and Iron Dragon in before 9:30. We headed over to Millennium Force which had about a 15-20 minute wait. We figured the line would close shortly before we got our ride in.

The park was scheduled to close at 10pm according to the website.

We got off MF at 10 on the dot. I usually expect the line to be open a couple of minutes after closing time. So I was not surprised to be able to get back in line at 10:02.

I was surprised however that when we got off the second time, that we got back in line at 10:15 and again at 10:25 to find Mantis still open. Rode that, then got back in line for MF at 10:45 and decided to leave after that ride even though the line was still open at 10:55

Whats the deal? There are not calendars/park operating times in the brochure/park map anymore and the website said 10pm. So do they just decide to leave the park open later when they deem it appropriate? Crowds were light, extremely light for a Saturday night.. so I can't see them saying the park was busy and it should remain open.

Definitely not complaining. But if I knew the park was open later than what I was told, I might be tempted to come on other nights when I have the time.

edit: i want to add that I did the check the website calendar which says the park was open until 11pm. however the top of the website did say until 10pm (in the banner bar, top right of page) and I also asked the MF ride op what time the park closed dude to the confusion of the website she repeated to me and my party that it was a 10pm day. wierd.

Looks like Saturdays in June are 11PM closings on the schedule I'm looking at.

I have had the same experience with the park hours,we saw the clock and it said 11:15 and they had just made last call for the raptor.
So my conclusion is that there trying to give you more bang for the buck or cause no one is really there they can shut down the rides a little quicker as well.
And this was opening day last year too.
So i guess that could be the luck of the draw

Because on Saturday (if that's when you went) the park is open untill 11:00 PM.

Why ride coasters? Becuse there is NOTHING better to do than riding a coaster!

See my edit. I know I'm getting old, as I feel like crap today after a 3 hour stint at the park, but all 5 of us saw it on the site before we decided to head out.

On what site? Cedar Points site shows 11:00 PM closing on Saturday's beginning in June. It has showed this for a few months now, and has not changed. I'm only guessing here, you may have been looking as May.

Hmm, I usually don't stay all the way until close. I did opening day this year, and that's when top thrill "rollback" was having trouble. We were in line for 3 hours and the ride op said everyone in line gets a ride even if it took until 1am....luckily the ride shut down while the lap bar was down and we were ready to go...:(

Here, I print screened this yesterday to mail to a friend. Check out the upper right and lower right.

The site was acting up the other day, it was probably just a problem with the website.

You really need to look at and go by their calendar under the HOURS tab. That is the most accurate. I don't go by what is on the top of the main web page. That may not have been updated from the May Saturdays.

On the CP website, for Soak City it is showing the 2008 hours. Weird...

EDIT: Now it is showing 2009.
