Hotels

Ok, did a search, and nothing came up, even though I know I've seen this topic before. My cousin, brother, girlfriend and I are looking for a hotel around CP. My cousin and I are 19. We found a few hotels that claim 18 year olds can get a hotel, but we called and most say 21. I don't get it. Does anyone have decent hotels that accept 18 year olds for sure? None of those "Low Budget Inns". haha. Thanks...

The only ones I know of are Ramada Inn and the Holidome. We stayed at the Holidome for a couple years and it was perfect. They just make you sign a waiver about partying and stuff.

Well the Holidome claims 21, the holiday inn express, says you can have 18 years olds, but if you have any under 18 year olds, you need a 21 year old. Im 19, my cousin is 19, my gf is 18, but my bro is 15. We're screwed it seems.....lol

PS, carpy, youre gonna have to let us know how that Best Budget Inn turns out to be....

Check the Comfort Inn in Huron. Nice hotel, not the cheapest though... They take 18+ though.

I HIGHLY reccomend the Best Western hotel. That is the place where my group stays for the end of our trip, and I only can say the best about them. The rooms are immaculate, and the service is second to none. The Perkins inside of the hotel is very good. Plus they have a clean pool. :)

Walt, thanks a million.... Thing is, is we've called some of these hotels, and they told us 21, even tho the website says 18. I think alot of them are just messing with us. But theres a few on there I'm gonna check on....

A few that did allow for 18 year olds, require a 21 year old if we have anybody under 18, which we do: my brother is only 15. Anybody know more about this weird rule?

Seems strange to me. I know when we tried to look into staying at a CP resort, we called and the first thing out of their mouth was "Is every one at least 21?". At the time, I was and my fiance was 20 and they declined giving us any information.

But, unless they've had a policy change, I know the Holidome takes 18 year olds because I stayed there when I was 19 and 20. My fiance is a year younger than me so neither of us were 21. Castaway Bay was the one who told us that the Holidome took 18 year olds. It was a very nice place to stay.

Recently myself and Josh(Top Thrill Dragster) spent a few nights up at the park. Being under 21 we did alot of research to find a nice hotel that we could stay at that was also cheap. Most lists of 18/21 hotels are wrong... you gotta do some research but you'll be sure to find something that works for you.

pyrocoasterkid, Most hotels require everyone to be over 18 unless there is a 21 year old. Josh and I both got carded to make sure we were 18 at the different hotels. They weren't playing with you... the age requirement most hotels list/advertise are wrong. The visitor guide(which I used to look up hotels) was totally off... your best bet is to call or look on a travel website such as Travel Now. I hate to break it to you, but you're going have to dig around to firgure out about your brother being able to stay.

I recommend Motel 6 on 250 near the turnpike... it was dirt cheap a few weeks back and was very nice. Best Budget Inn on Cleveland Rd. (right next to Castaway) was also cheap and really nice. Last year we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express... that was great. I know the Super 8 is also under 21 friendly and was pretty nice.

Find a list of Sandusky/Milan/Huron and their phone and just start calling. Heck you may be able to get a better deal over the phone (I did...). *** Edited 5/20/2006 8:18:25 PM UTC by Andrew***

We're staying at the Best Budget Inn this weekend, Andrew.. You're the first person to say it was a nice place for the price. I'm hoping you're right :)

Carpy, what one? The one on 250 near 2 or the one next to Castaway Bay? We stayed at the one next to Castaway and it was really nice for the price... even had free internet. I have stayed at the one near 2 on 250 a year or two back and it was nice too... and I *believe* when I drove by last week it had a sign saying newly remodeled or something. They arn't a 4 star by any means but they arn't bad at all! *** Edited 5/20/2006 9:53:30 PM UTC by Andrew***

My and my friends, two 18, two 17, are staying at the red roof inn tonight. I'll let you know how it is

Its the one on Milan Road.

I hope that's the same one you're talking about that's nice lol. We're paying $64 for the first night and $74 for the second. That was the best prices we could find out of all the sites (travelocity, hotels.com, orbitz, priceline, etc.). We've booked this and our honeymoon through Expedia.

They both are nice. I haven't stayed in the Milan location in the last year or two but like I said I could have sworn the sign outside said "newly remodeled" or something when I drove by last week.

Awesome. Maybe it will be great then. Last year when we stayed at Ramada, they were doing some construction as well. We stayed right outside the construction area. It wasn't noisy or anything but I bet they're finished with what they were doing too.

Ok, we found 4 so far that would allow us. Anybody have any opinion/thoughts/info on the howard johnsons?

Also, what about the south shore inn? Comfort Inn Maingate?

I'm also interested in peoples' opinions on the HoJo. It's on the causeway and the prices don't seem too bad...if it's a good buy, that may be where I stay.

If you are just planning on sleeping in the hotel room, I'd recommend the Maples Motel on Cleveland Road. While there's not that much to them, the rooms are clean and it's in a convenient location close to the Chausee. In addition, it seems to be a pretty good deal. This past weekend for two nights I paid a hundred bucks. I can't say enough about the staff. The woman who owns it knew me by name (she remembered me from last year's Coastermania) as soon as I went in to check in, and she remmebered it the next day. We showed her our photos for the CM photo contest, and the next day, she asked if I won (which I didn't). I just enjoyed the atmosphere of a nice family owned motel, even if the rooms aren't as new as others. It's kind of like why Holiday World is a nice place: because the employees truly care about you, and it doesn't seem like they're just trying to make money. They didn't ask me at all about how old I was, and my girlfriend is not 21, so that made us ineligible for staying at a Cedar Point resort.
