Hotel Recommendations please

We're planning to head down to CP this weekend and I need a hotel for Sunday night. I just need an inexpensive place and I need for it to have a pool (I have small kids who really think all hotels must.have.pools!). Any recommendations?

The Maples. So long as you don't care about the trains, which almost every hotel and campground along that stretch has running across the street at night.

It's a very clean place, though it's older. The people are oh-so-friendly as well.

I Like Best Budget North,, (right next to Castaway Bay TGIF, www.sanduskybestbudget.com,,, or tripadvisor ,, will search the lowest rates for the time you need.

I have had good luck with the following:

Maples is by far my favorite for the money. The trains do seem to be a bit more prominent there because they are crossing Perkins Rd and tend to blow their horns, but the staff is more than happy to give you free earplugs (seriously) :)

I would avoid 250 for the most part... Especially during this part of the season. Prices are ridiculous, and the hotels don't seem to be worth the money at all. I've always had better luck on Cleveland Rd.

If you are willing to drive a bit, I would check in Huron or Milan as well.

I can't express my love for the Maples enough. Seriously, when I'm there on Wednesday next week, I plan on spending time in their hammock. :)

When I was there in June I didn't notice if the hammock was up or not...

But, to give you an idea of the quality of that place. When I called in June to book my room, the person taking my reservation remembered me from the last time I visited... 2 years ago... When I gave her my name, she said "You've stayed here before, haven't you?"... Maybe my last name is just memorable.

Also, the coffee and donuts they bring in every morning for their guests is a nice touch. They actually have Maples t-shirts and hoodies now... I may pick up a t-shirt next week... they actually look really nice.

One of the owners of Maples goes to the same dentist I go to......and she lives in Florida during winter! Apparently they use to live where I live now. It's a small world. :)

Thanks for the recommendations, guys! I love the idea of the Maples, but my 2 year old wakes up at the drop of a hat so I think the train noise would be too much for him.

I really, really like the look of the park cabins at the KOA. I am going to call and get rates tomorrow, and if that doesn't work out, I will check out South Shore Inn.

Hampton Inn @ 6100 Milan Road is where we usually spend the week while visiting Cedar Point.

For this Sunday they have 2 Double Beds Nonsmoking for $149

or 1 King Bed with a Whirlpool Nonsmoking for $169

Not too bad.

Not too bad? You can get a 2 Double Bed Non-Smoking room at Maples for 2 nights for less than one night at the Hampton. Now I understand that the Hampton may be a bit more "upscale", but it's certainly not worth twice the price for me...

The cabins at KOA are awesome, I definitely recommend them. I stayed there opening weekend when they were running a buy a night get a night free promotion.

If you're up to driving to Huron (about 10 minutes from the park) I also suggest Rivers Edge Inn. They had nice rooms and reasonable rates when I stayed there for Coastermania in June.

Keep in mind that the cabins at the KOA have trains, too. I tend to think they're even closer than they are at the Maples. They wake me up every time I'm there.

I do love those cabins, though.

Josh, I've got a Maples story for ya - Not only did Joan remember me, but I showed her some of my CP pictures, and she liked them so much, that she has them hanging in frames in some of the rooms. :)

The only cabins left were the two bedroom ones, and at 109 they were a little more than we wanted to spend. I ended up booking at the Red Roof Inn in Milan for $55 for the night. They have an indoor pool and pretty decent reviews on TripAdvisor.

Best Western (formerly Comfort) Suites. About 10 minutes away, and every room is a suite. Whirlpools are an option, and you can get a room for about 80 - 90 a night. Our favorite medium-priced hotel in the area.

Promoter of fog.

Stayed at the South Shore Inn for the first time Friday and was very pleased. The room was about as nice as the average room in the new section of the Breakers for about $90. It's only 5 minutes from CP. Very clean. Pool. Will return.

The Maples is nice too. A little cheaper and a little farther. The rooms are dated, but clean. Pool.

Either one is good.

Glad you liked SSI. I do the the computer work for this family run hotel. I will be staying there for CoasterMania myself this weekend.

It was very nice. I like that it's family owned. They said since the 1960's.
