Hotel discount for teachers?

I'm a teacher in the suburbs of Chicago and was planning on making a trip to the point in September. Does anyone know if hotels in the area offer discounts for teachers? I know that the CP resorts don't because they are seasonal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah some places do give teacher discounts. One of my coworkers gets discounts on hotels all the time but I'm thinking that most places in the Sandusky area don't give discounts because the bulk of their business is in the summertime.

I worked with some of the CP resorts this summer and I am not aware of ANY hotel ANYWHERE that offers said discount.

I've heard of a AAA discount but no such teacher discount. Prehaps when you go on a large field trip, but otherwise probably not. Even then it dosen't look good. Some companies have programs that book the trip through them and gives you a discount (nwa uses RESX).

There are a few chains that have explicit teachers' rates. A few others will grant teachers the govt/military rate. Finally, some unions and other institutions negotiate directly with chains for rates.

For example, faculty and staff at CIC universities (the Big "Ten" plus U. Chicago and Notre Dame) can get decent deals on several hotels near each CIC campus.

If teachers get discounts at other around school hotels why would you get discounts at CP?

That's cool. I get my teaching certificate in April so I'm always on the lookout for good deals I'll be able to cash in on eventually.

Office Depot and Office Max have teacher discount programs. Also check out Border's and other bookstores. It certainly is nice to get discounts on stuff you can use in your classroom.
