Is it a way to increase the per cap and to pay Maverick?
For the ultimate week of August in 2006, I booked a room at the Hotel Breakers in the old Bon Air Section (room type HR2D) for 95$ per night. For the same week, the same room cost this year is 2007 131$ per night, that is, an increase of 38%!
I had noticed that about rates as well. I left Cedar Point not knowing why it seemed so expensive this year and brushed it off as no travel agent discount. (Most resorts give travel agents big discounts to try their product). I spent a few days at Disney World and spent less than I spent at Cedar Point and Disney World included a flight. Apparantly, it's not just me and Cedar Point is just becoming expensive.

I liked it when they used to give stockholders those great coupons good for 2 nights for the price of 1 at Breakers and maybe another hotel, too.
(They also gave stockholders BOGO coupons on admission, but they don't even do that anymore, either.)
Cedar Point has always been expensive. I try not to spend anything when I go!
you have to work in the demand rates as well though. the more people staying at the hotel the more the rooms that are left are worth to the next guy in line. It happened to my buddy last year around this time. I booked the weekend stay at breakers early in the season and paid $110/night he didn't have the deposit money and had to wait about a month and the price for the same room was $165.
