Has anyone ever stayed in the Main Section before?I booked a room with two beds and a fridge. Is it comparable to the Bon Air section?
I would say that it is a little better than the Bon Air section. It is pretty old though, but it should be alright. Definetly newer than the Bon Air. You get a good view of the pool and the lake from there.
Ummm...I don't know what "history" you based your post off of, but Bon Air was an addition to Hotel Breakers. The main section are the wings directly off the lobby on either side of the pool. No, I do not mean Towers. The main section was built in 1905, Bon Air was...1920s, if I recall (don't feel like pulling down Queen of American Watering Places to look).

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Oh, I thought Bon Air was the first section made. So has the main section renovated recently, because people only seem to complain about the Bon Air part. I don't see too much complaining about the Main Section.
Chief would be the person to ask about that. I'm not aware of a recent renovation of either section, though.

Rooms at the Breakers have been continually updated over the years...even the rooms that get criticism in Bon Air. But, if you have X square feet to work with and the exterior of your building is fairly open to the elements of a harsh Lake Erie winter due to the original building materials, there isn't much more you can do.
I haven't been in the Main section of the hotel in a while but I'm sure things such as bedding and so forth have been updated in due course. Main rooms always seemed "dark" to me...partly because they literally don't get much sunlight given their location. But, there is a historical, unique, quaintness that I always liked about those rooms.
If it is Bon Air or Main, I'd probably go for Main if for no other reason than it's location to the lobby, restaurants, pool, etc. The pool view rooms in Main have, well, nice views.
Streak is correct with regards to the dates.
My ultimate dream was to build a couple of exclusive suites on the upper floors of the rotunda. There are some unique angles up there and a lot to work with. The downside to that would be that any significant work would then require updated accessibility (elevators) and that would completely change the Rounda, forever. I'm not sure I would want to sacrifice the Rotunda's character...even for some REALLY cool suites.

Last year we stayed in the rotunda. The room was on the 3rd floor, no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage. The room itself was HUGE. Two full size beds and a roll away and still plenty of room to move around. The decor was far from modern but very clean and neat, not in dis-repair. It is convenient to the Lobby and the WiFi signal is strong. I've also stayed in the wing toward the Soak City side, the room was much smaller, very cramped.
