Dumping TGIFridays and putting something "better" in that space, will not change the inherent problems that are common there. The problem is CP food services, not the chain.
However, if you have some dislike for TGIFridays as a restaurant chain you also probably wouldn't like any other chain style restaurant that would go in there. Fridays, as far as chains go, is run better than most chains are but they mostly all utilize the same back of the house procedures.
The bar at Fridays is run very well. And even in that specific location, it is a very fun spot with usually above average bartenders that make it worth the time and money.

Jason McClure tweeted some pictures of the beach, and it looks like they've redone the walkway. The walkway used to abut the Fridays patio. It looks as though they've moved the walkway toward the water slightly.

Not sure what I think about all those trees missing next to CP Shores. It was very peaceful walking along the beach with some trees cover there. I don't understand what it will add to CPS. You'll have a standard fence and sidewalk between you and the beach from the water park anyway. I hope they at least switch out those huge parking lot style lights on the path there.

You are correct as the boardwalk use to be right against the fence that surrounded the patio at Fridays. Pushing it away from Breakers is probably for the new section to fit nicely in its spot and to also line you up with the walkway that goes around Soak City (I'm not calling it CPS just yet). In the past I am sure most didn't know it was there because it was hidden pretty well with the large rocks and was easy to walk right past. Plus in that 2nd picture you can see what will probably become a sitting/viewing area. That location is where I thought a beach bar would be nice to have.
One of the reasons I liked Mainstream over Renegade River was the shade you floated in and out of under those trees. I am indifferent on their removal but as has been done in the past with the larger trees, it could have been because of disease. Removing those trees really wouldn't open up the view of the beach much since they were so tall. Taking down that ugly slatted chainlink fence and the large bushes would have done that alone. However removing the trees does give you a good view of those slides from the boardwalk/hotel area which could help guests realize the water park is right next door. Either way I am excited to see how that whole area turns out as its always been favorite of mine.
