Hope to see ou all on Saturday at the Corkscrew!

Sorry about the extreme wait time on Corkscrew this past saturday! We will definately try to make it better this upcoming weekend. Hint.....ride after 415 pm because we close for the parade.....and you can get right on!

Are you guys still trying that abortion called "3-train operation"?

After sitting for 5-10 minutes in a sleet storm (I stopped checking after my face froze) because with 3 trains there was consistently a 2 train wait outside the station, I won't ride again as long as there are 3 trains on the track. The seatbelts killed any chance you guys had of ever being efficient again.

Im glad you see that but if you do hit interval meaning only 1 train is sitting out there u can still reel in 1300 hours... but yea I have stressed my point 3 trains on corkscrew is pointless and a good workout to try to hit interval if you ask me.

And don't get me wrong either, I like the ride. But if the crew is slow (and the seatbelts only exacerbate the issue) and 2 trains are constantly stacking outside the station, take the time to transfer one off. This was closing weekend last year.

Train A leaves station.
Train B pulls into station.
Train C moves up 1 spot.
Train A pulls into brakes.

(wait a few minutes)

Train B leaves station.
**continue**

It really sucked when the sleet hit because we were Train A. We left the station and were headed up the hill when it started. So we sat while they loaded B and released it and then sat and waited while they un-loaded and loaded C and released it. Then finally, soaked in ice water, we got to get out. I still don't know why CP hasn't gone to the retractable belts that clip to the horse-collar that it seems every other CF Arrow is using.

Well, it is a good thing they do have seatbelts on this ride. One day during the summer, me and a group of friends went on it, and someone operating the ride forgot to lock the harness in one of the cars. He never said anything until we were off the ride, which I don't know why he or the other people in that car didn't notice or say anything before. If it wasn't for the seatbelt I don't know what would have held them in.

What's the name of the dance you guys do to release? The 2 foot stomp or something?

^^ - Centripetal force would have (and does do) the job. The only spots of any concern on that ride are the lift hill (if you're in the back you get launched over top pretty well) and the bunny hill (good airtime hop).

Going through either the loop or the corkscrew doesn't require the harness unless some fluke happens to cause the train to stop in an upside down position.

I find it very hard to believe that your friends rode the entire ride with the restraint unlocked Ryan. If you examine the station, you will see a prox sensor that will detect a pedal that is left in the unlocked position. I'm assuming the lift will stop if that happens.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Were you the one that said: "Your ride on the Corkscrew is being brought to you by Final Destination 3, now on dvd" ? If it wasnt you, tell your co-worker (blond guy) that I almost wet myself I was laughing so hard. Keep up the good work guys!!

R.I.P. MrScott... You're greatly missed!!

How long was the wait at Corkscrew on Saturday?

It actually did happen, later that day supervisors in the area and park op. all knew about it, so someone got in trouble, but I dont know what happened to the person that left it open or anything. But yeah, the guy riding in that seat said he could lift the restraint up and the seatbelt was the only thing keeping it from going up further. He didnt realize it though, and thought that it was supposed to be like that so didn't say anything.

Test are done every morning to make sure that if a pedal is left down, the train will stop at the very bottom of the lift.

And Greg, I'm on to you. You're wanting to hit a certain mark before the season's end.

And for the Final Destination 3 comment, that doesn't sound like the TL or the ATL. I could be wrong though.

As for the seatbelts, don't think no one is trying. It's been requested many times for some kind of change.

I've almost fell off the platform doing that on a couple occasions. It's very tiring after a while.

Maybe I should compose a tune to that. What do you say, something to the tune of "Cotton Eye Joe"?

I could see you guys stomping up and stomping the pedals while clapping and dancing oddly playing the air fiddles while the music is playing over the spiel.

^Don't give the Corkscrew crew any ideas. It was a very interesting season for us.

There's a small yellow disc on the unload side right beside the exit of the station. The computer will count how many pedals goes by, and if it doesn't add up to six then the lift will shut down and a ride op will have to go reset the lift. That happened one time when I was working. I was working load side, and the car was empty. Whoever was working unload forgot to kick that pedal back up, and they triggered the counter. The system worked as it was supposed to, and the two people working unload were given written's.

It is possible that the restraint disengaged after it left the station, but extremely unlikely. Also, no employee would have told you "Yeah, we sent a unrestrained train." This is especially true of supervisors. Any employee who would have told a guest that, should be fired on the spot.

This may sound ignorant, but just why has corkscrews lines gotten so long? Is it all due to the seatbelts??

I have not ridden CS for 3 seasons simply due to the wait.

What's the deal?

Promoter of fog.

CedarPointin2003-

I didn't think the wait time was all that long... Pluss you did have that dashingly handsome supervisor there helping you... I think he said he worked in the Hotels.... Mike, yeah, that was his name...

;)

1. We are doing a way better job at getting them in and out the past weeks.2. NO WAY did you ride with the harnesses unlocked its impossible if the lift didnt stop....theres a prox that counts the pedals as stated above. Gomez knows how bad I want a certain number...I strive the best to hit interval it all depends on the guests , people pulling up on the belts and most importantly crew communication.
