Home Page Pictures

Jeff,

Just curious if you took all of the pics that cycle on your home page? They are some of the best ride pics I have seen outside of Dan Feicht's.

Yeah, I took them all. They're OK. I really like lots of the photos I have in the gallery (all but a few have been in the gallery forever), but I really dislike others.

I decided to get serious about photography again, and I've plopped down the cash for a backorder on the Canon D60. Having an SLR without film constraints will really free me up to be creative for the first time since high school yearbook in '90 (when I didn't have to pay for the film or processing).

Wow....the D60 is one of the best made because it gives you slr quality but the convenience of digital. I have a 3030 Olympus and swear by digital. There are no sacrifices as long as you have plenty of high storage cards on hand and take uncompressed tiff's or shq jpg's. Film and developing takes lots of $$ plus time. So....does this mean that since we won't have to wait for you to get pictures developed, you will have lots of new cool pictures in the gallery?

Yeah, that's the plan. I ordered a 1 GB microdrive as well, so I'll have plenty of room to play.

1GB, cripes! I remember not too long ago we were storing pictures on 1.44 MB floppies.

Yeah, the first digital I saw in frequent use was Scott's (ShiveringTim). He had one of the old Sony Mavicas that saved on floppy. Can't imagine ever having to deal with that! I must say that their new ones that work with mini-CD-RW's are a good idea, though not as fast as memory.

That D60 is pretty awesome! Do you have one of those photo printers at home? I've been curious how well those things work and if they will pay for themselves in savings on film processing.

I shoot 35mm with my trusty Canon AE-1. I love this camera. I have a 75-300mm zoom lens that is pretty kick butt. I love the thing, but film and processing is getting expensive!

I just bought a little cheap-o Kodak digicam to play around with. It's allright for what I use it for, but I can't take any really nice pics with it like I enjoy. I hate using a non-SLR. :(

I wish someone would come out with an SLR camera that's both 35mm AND digital and have it so that if you have both film and a card in it, it'll put the pictures on both. Or, if you only have film and no card, it'll just be 35mm and if you only have a card, it'll just be digital. I would find a way to come up with the money for a camera like that!!

Damn, that D60 is NICE! Wish i had the money for one of those.

I can print photos, good quality, on my cheap HP printer at home on good Kodak paper, but the problem is longevity. I've got some stuff framed up around my house, some of it is already discoloring.

For "keeper" prints I use Ofoto.com. They're a division of Kodak, and they print to real photographic paper.

I also have a high-end Nikon negative scanner at home, but that's another step, and I still have to have the film processed.

I Too have a Canon AE-1 Program, best camera ever made if ya ask me. I love to Tele smash things so most of the time I have the telephoto on the thing. I have taken some killer train and race car pictures with the thing. I usually just leave it on automatic unless I want to go with a pan shot or some other kid of effect.

I have yet to take it to a park, too big and bulky. For that I use Kneemeisters Elph, a great tiny little digital camera. It fits right in your cargo pants pocket.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

The newest Canon and Epson printers have ink that lasts much, much longer than older inks. I have a Canon S800 that makes trully great prints. It's a 6 color printer, and the prints are just as good as optical, at least to my eyes.

True, but it concerns me that they say you can only get 25 years out of your prints. If you're going to do prints of your newborn baby, be sure to find someone who will print to photo paper. ;)

You can purchase high quality photo paper. Yes, it's expensive, over a buck a sheet. But, I thought the purpose of a digital camera was to be able to save your photos on disk so you could have them "forever". I realize systems change, but there is always a way to convert your digital photos to the new upgraded software if need be.

Excuse me? I can do without the sarcasm. This camera is being paid for by me, not the company. CoasterBuzz Club continues to pay for only a small percentage of my expenses. Don't pretend to think you know anything about my personal finances. Furthermore, if I ever did manage to make a buck from the club in conjunction with the site, what the hell is wrong with that?

So, Jeff I was just wondering, do members of CoasterBuzz have to pay? And if so how much?

Cedar Point is the best. I will never stop loving it. You gotta, You wanna, You have to hold on...Cedar point hold on!! :) :) :)

Thrillman, do you have ANY idea how much CoasterBuzz (and by extension, GTTP, Kennywood Boulevard, etc.) costs to run? The Club isn't even paying for all of that, let alone cool toys like this camera (which I'm jealous of ) -- those come right out of Jeff's wallet.

Think, then speak. It helps. Really...

So this is what the Coasterbuzz Club proceeds are going towards.

Hahaha! God forbid Jeff spend some of his personal income on something other than running GTTP and CB for you.

Besides...just last week I ran into Jeff at the "adult beverage" store and he was raving about how all the excess Club money is going toward buying the keg he was picking up ;o)

Fool...
