Hitting two birds (problems) with one stone (solution)

Problems

1. Guests don’t like waiting in line
-biggest guest complaint
-Guests go to Cedar Point for a day to ride rides but might only spend 15 minutes riding them. The rest of the time is spent waiting to ride them (not fun.)

2. The beach in underused.
-It is big and beautiful but not used because guests want to ride as much as possible.

Solution

-Create a virtual queue system for popular rides where guests wait in line while relaxing on the beach.

Any thoughts on this idea?
What are your concerns?
Is it a good idea?

You have to give people time to reply... 40 minutes may not be when everyone is online. I personally don't think so. I say this because it would become a mess and most people wouldn't go to the beach. Most people would take the virtual pass and ride another ride while they "wait" for the other rides. Thus creating longer lines for other rides. Just my thoughts...

Now on the other hand, I've told people to catch a break at the beach. I visit the beach often every summer.

A virtual queue system is possible but it would take a lot of time and money to implement one that would work well. Also, the company probably makes more money off the fast lane passes.

The beach would probably have to be separate since it probably wouldn't be practical to walk from rides such as maverick to the beach then back for most people. They would be better off creating a section of parking lot where people could go just for the purpose of using the beach.

Haven't they invented that Q-bot system? That's what I think it's called, I remember seeing it somewhere.

I'm not sure how to prevent people from riding other rides while in their virtual queue. I agree there is no clear way to prevent that but I'll try to come up with one.

I understand how in a sense a virtual queue system would take away from fast lanes value, but I still think they can coexist. A virtual queue system has the potential to improve guest experience. That will probably warrant the effect it has on fast lane.

Maverick is the only busy ride more than 8-10 minutes from the beach which might make my idea impractical for it. I think the idea is practical for Dragster, Raptor, Gatekeeper, Millennium Force, and Mantis depending on the rides wait. If they issued tickets directly from the beach, the rides distance would only be half as much of a problem.

Thanks for the in put. I hope some how my idea can be debugged and implemented.

I believe Q-bot is generally for an additional cost. I was aiming for a free system, but that's not a bad idea.

Six Flags has Q bots where guests would rent them per day. Last I went to Six Flags was 2 years ago' At that time the regular Q bots were $10.00 per day & the Q bot plus were $45.00 per day. The regular Q bots allowes you to your device at the ride entrance for minial wait time while the Q bot plus get you on the ride platform little or no waiting.

That underused beach, now that's a big problem. <?

While a virtual queue at some parks is a viable alternative to standing in line, and may be useful, what park owner in his right mind would direct guests to relax somewhere between rides when they could stay in the park and possibly spend money somewhere? If I'm not mistaken, I think that was one of the main points of offering virtual queue, get em out of line for an hour and back into circulation. In the park. Where they might buy something.

Are you serious in saying you don't want guests on other rides while they wait?

I'm not going to your beach. I don't like it, and besides, it looks like rain. I'd rather ride Super Himalaya, play a game, then get a Coke while I wait if it's all the same to you.

I can't believe this is even a topic here, and I'm laughing my butt off at the notion as well as the serious replies. This idea can't be de-bugged and will not be implemented.
