History Section of Cedar Point's website...

I was glancing through the history section of Cedar Point's website, which is pretty good. It's pretty much just an abridged version of "Cedar Point: Queen of American Watering Places."

I almost freaked out when I saw this page:

Scroll down to the Cedar Point Cinema...I was trying to figure out why it looked so baren...then I realized that the huge trees that shade that area today are those little saplings...pretty freaky.

Yeah, looking at some of those photos makes me kind of sad that I never got to ride some of them...especially Mill Race and Shoot the Rapids.

Makes me sad that I can't anymore.  I see S-T-R and think of my Grandpa when he was still my dads age, and how he thought he had it figured out how not to get wet, the problem was we had it figured out how to get him wet, I guess it was an early lesson on load distribution.

Hey I had to be waht say well Not even around when you guys were theer wih grandpa, I miss Mill race but What is there now is much better ;)  and what about Jungle Larry's now i really miss that place.

A lot of stuff has changed since kneemeister first took me to Cedar Point when I was what, 8?

I always like the look of the drop on Shoot the Rapids but I wonder what the rest of ride was like. Did it have anything other elements or just a lift and the drop? Are there any pictures floating around of something other then the drop?
i miss the Mill Race...

(20 some odd rides in a row back in 92... *sniff*)

front car 24/7.

Shoot the Rapids was known by a much less affectionate name by the empolyees back then.  Think "Ship", but with a letter replaced.

I don't think anyone on the inside was unhappy to see it go.

Hey, wait a minute...Shoot - The- Rapids was the BEST water ride at the park. The last year of the ride was a difficult as the ride would break down quite regularly. And there was more than one "on the inside" sorry to see it go (ie. He was Director of Pak Operations and is now at a certain CedarFair Park in California...he too was a Rapid Man)

Working, (yes I worked the Rapids) the ride had MAJOR benifits, least of which you were part of the largest all guys crew in the park, so can you guess which crew all the girls crews wanted to invite to thier parties;)

Everytime I ride WWL, I have a tear in my eye for STR. Just to show the size difference between WWL and STR: When you ride WWL again, the two SMALL pumps you pass as you enter the "cave" are the two MAIN pumps from STR.

I vaguely remember Jungle Larry's because I was so young...I had no idea he was so popular until I read CP:QoAWP.
