History of shipwrecks and storms around Cedar Point?

Does anyone have information on shipwrecks around Cedar Point or about any historically bad storms in the area?

I've never been to Cedar Point, but I hear it's nothing special.

Its not so random if you saw all this guy's other threads. I thought you said you were going to bed?

Didn't someone write a song about a lake erie wreck called the Edmond Fitzgerald? Oops that was Lake Superior, not Lake Erie.

There is a map for sale at many of the shops on PIB that show at least 100 shipwrecks in the general vicinity of Cedar Point or Lake Erie in general.

*Edit* - Exit, thanks for the pop coming out my nose when I clicked your link.

Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

Thanks, This was a serious topic. I'm honestly interested in the history. I go scuba diving every once in a while on other Great Lakes (mostly Superior by Whitefish point).

I saw this a while back, can't remember where, but there was a bad storm on the night of July 4, 1969 at Cedar Point. Jungle Larry's animal cages were smashed (luckily none got loose), people were stranded and one man died near the Breakers. Any one else read this also?

exit, I don't think I've ever laughed harder from something on this site than that.

Is that a gang symbol at the end of your post or something?

No, It's a man riding a skate board and yelling because he's about to be crushed by a 1000 ft. freighter at Cedar Point. Isn't it obvious?

Josh I love you.

The Edmond Fitzgerald sank in Lake Michigan. The song about it was very popular, back in the day.

^ I have an old 7" vinyl single of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, haha. :)

Actually I have an old atlas of Ohio, and on the Lake Erie portion there's several shipwreck sites listed relatively near Cedar Point (off of Marblehead, Kelly's Island, the Bass Islands, etc.)
