Help Requested -- Old CP Memorabilia

My family and friends have been going to CP every spring for over 20 years. Back when Gemini first opened I recall going up the first lift hill and seeing someone by the road next to the lift hill with a camera and a tripod. There were two people standing there. I recall thinking, "Cool! Maybe the park is taking pictures!" Well, later that year (maybe the next, I cannot recall) I came across a full size poster/calendar with the Gemini's first lift hill. Upon closer inspection I believe I could see myself and my brother in the last car of the blue train! I kept this for years. However, after several moves to new homes it has become lost.

I've found the picture online in a 1984 brochure at http://www.virtualmidway.com/brochures/m1984f.asp.

Does anyone have any information that can assist, or can anyone tell me how I might be able to find a copy of that poster/calendar? The picture was MUCH larger than the brochure and as such, is preferable to the smaller brochure (but I'll take what I can find!)

Any ideas?? I've covered eBay and all those with no luck.

THANKS!!!

Well good luck with this one. If you didn't know the park has a annual poster calendar it sends out to the media and other groups. The park has been doing it since the late 70s or early 80s. I was lucky enough to go behind the scenes of the laundry room at the park and see all of the posters. This was the first time I saw the ones from the early 80s of gemini, the one that you migt be in. I have been collecting these calendars for years and I have the '83 one and '86 through '03. Lots of luck trying to find them, I would pay a boat load to get the entire set. Someday when I have a basement I want to display all of them in their frames. Its funny though because I know someone who is in the 1993 calendar of Mean Streak's first drop!

Is it possible that PR at CP might have some archived photos? Might be worth a shot to contact PR at CP to find out.

If the park can't help you, you are pretty much stuck with ebay. Just keep checking you never know. I collect CP brochures and have gotten most of them off of ebay. I searched for months for a 1959, finally one showed up on ebay which I won, a few weeks later another one showed. Just keep at it.
Gee Dan..you need a FEW years..Let me check the "archive" AGAIN.

OTT

Hey OTT, while your checking that archive if you come across an extra 87, 89 I'm willing to spend the same boatload as Dan. I need those to have the collection from 86 on.

NorthCoastRider I know exactly what calendar you are talking about. My band teacher had one hanging in his office in Jr High. If you find one be prepared to spend the big dollars as it is very rare. Good luck to ya.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to hear that folks at least know of these posters. I appreciate the feedback.

If you ever learn of one that might be available, I'd be willing to purchase...

Thanks

Hey Tim, please look again, did you get your pictures back from media day yet :)

Man, I threw away my TTD callendar from this year cause I thought it was ugly... Maybe I should have kept it and sold it on ebay in a few years.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

I didn't want to start a new topic and my question kinda fits in here so I'll go with it: Does anybody know if there is/are shops that sell items like the old plates with CP on them at the park? Kinda like the ones you always find on eBay only I want ones that are new and have current logos/designs on them. I also would like to find pennants at the park but haven't found them yet either. (or do they even market them anymore?)

Go over to Town Hall and you will find a ton of old Cedar Point Memorabillia......you won't find anything cool like old ride props or signs, or Fascination tables, or old ride entrance sings, but you might find the plates you are looking for, though they are not for sale.
