Help Me With My Trip...

I'll be arriving Tuesday around 4 and waiting until 5 to purchase a Starlight ticket for Tuesday night, and then spending all day the next day in the park. Has anybody been on the two days after the fourth holiday? I figure people would be heading back to work. Especially by Tuesday night. I'm staying at the Radisson Harbour Inn.

What would you suggest for Tuesday night and then for the whole next day. Any rides that you think will have short lines for those days and what rides should I definately not miss out on? I know the majors but are there any other hidden "gems" that should be ridden?

Also what rides are open early in the morning and it says we can only ride two? Do they keep track? Thanks in advance for help.

1. Go and enjoy yourself. Don't be concerned about crowds.

2. On the first night, perhaps try Blue Streak and Raptor to start. You might find favorable lines on those rides during the late afternoon. The area from Gemini back to Mean Streak around to the Trail empties late in the evening. End your night by jumping in line for Millennium Force or Dragster a few minutes before the park closes.

3. On Wed., start early and get your rides in on Millennium Force and Dragster (those are the only two open early, but you can ride them more than once - if you can - depends on crowd size). Head to the back of the park and work your way to the front.

Also I forgot to ask, since I'm staying at the Radisson is there was drop off point for my parents to drop me and my friend off conveniently for both them and me?

Just go and have a good time. NOBODY can predict the crowd, but you can bet they will be heavy in late June and all of July & August.

MF is USUALLY open for earlier riding, as is another major ride. Don't worry about it and go and have a good time.

Oh, and read the FAQ section of this site.

There is a drop off area near the main gate. The traffic employees can direct you when you get there.

"Hidden gems"? Every ride is great. The only rides that come to mind when you say that is Gemini and Magnum. I say that because they are both great rides and have no line. But, there is really no way to "plan" what rides you ride, you mainly go "impulse" riding, when you pass by them.
Don't try to plan around crowds when it's not predictable.

You're better off to go and work around with what you get. If you see a short line, hop in it, if you don't want to wait a long period of time for something hold off and check back later. Lines go up and down just a matter of when you happen to walk by.

I was expecting a disaster memorial day weekend, and was greeted by nothing short of a great day with ride repeats and short waits.

Trying to plan a trip to CP out in full detail won't get you anywhere, trust me, I've made that mistake before.

I drive roughly 12 hours every year to CP and while I have met the same crowd levels each year, I am also able to ride all the rides I want to multiple times in the same day.

This year I happened to go over to Raptor at 10:30 at night. The sign said a half hour wait but we didn't wait 10 minutes!! Needless to say we rode three times in row and got in to Dragster before the 11 pm line closing. We caught the last train of the night and walked back to Breakers for a cocktail. Quite a memorable night.
