Help me win at the games

OK guys, when I take my daughter to CP she expects me to win her stuffed animals at the games. Since I generally suck at such things I was hoping for some tips. For those who play the games as well as those who work the games I am looking for some help.

What games are the easiest? Are there some tips that make winning at certain games easier? I see so many people walking around with the large stuff animals there must be some trick to it.

For those who work there, which games to people win at more than others? Are there games to avoid because "no one ever wins"?

I can't shoot hoops or climb the rope ladder and "Guess your weight" is about the only thing I seem to be able to win at.

#1 - you're better off buying a prize than trying to win one.....having said that......

#2 - order a Cedar Point Get Away Guide - past guides have 2 for 1 type coupons for games, hopefully 2013 guide still has them, anyway, just get the guide

#3 - no guarantees but seems like little kids win more often at the guess your weight, birthday, income, ....etc......type game. ..... your best shot is to go for the "guess my birthday"...if you are going to try to use the hammer to ring the bell game, use the kids hammer....packs a better punch :>)

Best bet.....buy a prize, gift, call it what you want. ....trying to win one will cost $$$$$$, if you lose, daughter is disappointed......dad is disappointed & broke....yikes!

Guess your income...? What are you talking about?

I'm surprised it got caught so fast....just kidding about the income thing, I could only remember that they guess your weight, birthday and something else........still can't remember the third thing......GETTING TOO OLD!!!!

I believe it is age.

yes it is age.....funny,...... the risk with these games is with the plus / minus, be smart & careful

If you really need a prize, buy it!

Honestly if you're even remotely good at Skeeball I've found that that and those Cyclone machines are a more reliable way to rack up tickets, but it seems to be more the Midway games that have the huge animals.

Well the bank a ball looks do-able. Thanks for the link to the video.

I didn't realize you could buy the prizes. Where do you do that? Dad might just have to walk away and come back after "winning" a prize.

I usually let her do the guess your weight thing. They seem to have more trouble guessing her. I always figured the weight was the best odds. Certainly better than birth month with-in 2.

I was hoping to hear from some of the game operators.

I don't think you are allowed to just buy directly from the games.

You and your daughter might want to play one of the race-type games. You only need two people to play and there will be a winner every game. I know there was one of these that had a water gun that you aim at a target in the Gemini games area. I think there was something similar in the games area up at the front of the park.

Definitely do the Guess Your Age game. It's easy to win.

They're all rip-offs from any economic standpoint, of course, but I like the way that ski-ball shows the accumulation of tickets, and I think that would be fun for a kid to watch. Plus, it's the sort of game where you can get in a zone; go for the highest value hole that is in a concentric area, so a miss doesn't result in no points. A couple of my friends were on an adult ski-ball league with Winking Lizard (as silly as that sounds), and that cautious strategy worked well for them.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

I win a lot of small stuffed animals playing Skeeball at the Gemini arcade and main arcade. Now, I've had 40+ years' experience, so that helps :)

If you have a platnum pass the race spray game is buy one get one. well it waS last year. just the two of you play you can get a price play 3 times get a big prize.

I was an age/weight/birthday guesser way back in the day. The only option that is purely a guess for the "guesser" is the birthday and it is dumb luck, most of the time. But, even with dumb luck I had a 40% chance of getting it right. Then, if it was a woman wearing jewelry and I had a chance to glimpse a birthstone it was a snap.

Kids under 18 should never go with age because it is easy to pin that down. If you are 8 I can guess you at 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 and still win. The only time age was a problem for me was if a woman with heavy makeup came up alone. The it may be harder to get a real picture. But, more often than not the woman is not alone and catching a glimpse of her husband, boyfriend or companions would help me narrow down her age.

Weight may be easiest for the guesser. After you have worked the scale a couple of weeks every person who weighs 150 looks like every other person who weighs 150. I got to the point where I could get that better than 90% of the time. The only variable that made it difficult was if it was cold and people were wearing heavy clothing.

In fact, I got so good at that I would offer to guess a parent and their younger child and I could still nail it. I would guess a parent with a kid IN the stroller.

So, on all the other games you are relying on either luck or your own skill. On the guessing game you are relying on the guesser's skill and that person is doing that 6 days a week, 10 hours a day.

I got so good that my supervisor taught me to lose on purpose so I could build a crowd and more business. Even when we lose we win. I loved people who got smart with me when I lost. Under my breath I was saying, "yeah...you got me alright. You paid $3 for a .50 cent prize. You sure showed me."

You are better off going into a store and buying a Snoopy.

That's funny. I was always under the impression that those guessing games were an easy win where the guessers purposely missed (looking at the junk prizes for the high per-play price).

You actually tried? Poor little kid just wanted their 50-cent Sponge Bob for $5. ;)

In all seriousness, did CP track metrics so that you didn't give out too many prizes?

I'd think there would be situations where you would purposely want to miss an overweight person on the low side to avoid embarrassing them. Or guess an older lady's age low to make her feel good. I mean, if a 75-year-old lady plays "Guess Your Age" and you say 77, she loses AND gets a punch in the face the rest of the day.

I guessed at Geauga Lake and there was no "science" involved. If things were slow I'd tank a little to build some interest. If the girls were good looking I'd let them win.

I was smacked once when I guessed a woman older than she was so I avoided that situation from then on. And yes, if I was going to guess the weight wrong on women I'd make sure to guess under.

As a kid, the birthday game always seem to be a winner for me. Depending on the year, it was a quarter or 50 cents.

I would take the advice of the other, and do the balloon pop or water race games. Another easy one although no guarantees is the goblet toss. I have zero luck, but my wife did win back to back choice winners last October..

Skeeball is another solid option. It doesnt take long to get a good rhythm going to hit 270 for a prize..

Redemption games are actually the way to go, games like Titanic and Monopoly are very very easy to get the 1000 ticket 3 coin jackpot. I won a k-cup coffee brewer this way spending only 15 dollars and hitting the jackpot every time.
