Height guide for Iron Dragon

When did Iron Dragon change from 46" to 48" in height to ride?

^ Leading into the 2015 season (I think?)

And thank the maker! The inconsistency among all the suspended coasters chain-wide was really keeping me up at night.

Just think how many innocent children were needlessly killed on that ride before this critical safety change.

Be careful Kevinj... or they might add seat belts to those OTSRs too like Corkscrew. That way they can finally be consistent in having all of their coasters have belts. Combining that with the VR headsets... Iron Dragon will have the capacity of Ripcord.

I don't care when it happened, I just know that the fact that it DID happen is a crime against humanity.

It's really stupid. How Iron Dragon and Mine Ride are 48" is beyond me.

Just like how Mille is 48" and Witch's Wheel is 54".

Well those are manufacturer stated requirements for those two. According to the TL @ Witch's Wheel the size was moreover because some small kidswould be able to get their arms around & unlock the restraint. Some adults can, most can't, but kid arms are small and can get around the one area that really gives you access to the unlock mechanism up top.

Not sure if completely accurate, I never had a kid there and said, "Hey unlock the car for me" but it does make sense.

This makes perfect sense. MF has Intamin T-bar restraints, probably the safest restraint in the industry. The spacing of the cage bars on WW would easily allow little kids to fall out, especially since there are no seatbelts.

Yes, this is all sarcasm. 😜

At first I had such a large eyebrow raised at you. I was preparing to find pictures of Ride of Steel at Darien Lake :P

To those of you saying WW is 54" due to manufacturer requirements, I believe Orbit at SFGAm (which I think is the same manufacturer) is 48", and I believe Volcano at Kennywood was 52".

Witches Wheel, when first installed, had a lower height requirement. Years ago, there was an Enterprise at another park that had an issue where it stopped suddenly mid cycle and threw some riders around inside the cage. After that, I think all Enterprise ride's height requirements were drastically increased, presumably by the manufacturer. The theory was that taller riders would not be thrown around if the ride suddenly stopped.

Volcano at Kennywood I believe is the same model Enterprise as CP's Witches Wheel. I've never seen Orbit at SFGAm in person, but the cars look different in pictures I've seen. So even if it is a Huss ride, that may be why it has a lower height requirement.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
