heavy Equipment in the cleared area

I was at Cedar Point all day Sunday and rode Iron
Dragon twice.

On the second turn before the second lift hill, I
noticed wood stakes with orange painted tips
right around the area where that yellow (?equipment?)
is. The equipment was not there Sunday.

They were the same type of wood stakes that
were around dogems last year before it was removed
and became the spot that we now call area 51.

I went on the boat ride to see if I could
see anything from the lagoon, and didn't see them from
the boat. But they were clearly visible from
Iron Dragon. Now, before anyone asks, no I didn't get
pictures, it's against park rules, silly. lol :)
If you want to see them, just hop in the left seat
and watch over the side of the car...

Now, this is just what I saw. I'm not sure what
they are for. I have no clue. Those stakes could
be for anything. I just thought some of you might
find it interesting.

Everyone have a good weekend, and if you can, get to
the point and have fun this weekend.... :)

Has anyone else seen wood stakes by ID?
The cleared area that you all think you are seeing is just the guy who trys to fly that you see on Paddlewheel Excursions. I am almost 100% sure since I know the boat goes right over there. Look at this picture I took of it: http://members.aol.com/j1s15nc/images/cpfly.jpg See how it is all brown and there are no trees? Yeah, that's your cleared area right there. And if you think you see machinery inside it, think again. It is probably just the guy flapping his wings or on a clear sunny day when the sun is overhead, you are probably seeing that little cabin thing. There are also lights right there that you can see in the picture which is probably what you see at night. ;)

*And I am talking about the area on the island... not by ID.

It's dark right now, so I can't really tell, but from what I remember, the "cleared area" (note the quotes) is inland on the island. Correct me if I'm wrong...

To add some fuel to the fire, I went to Soak City today and saw a very large capacity cement truck on the causeway leaving the Point.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.
The Paddlewheel Excursions boats can not make it over their because their are footers in the water for MF so it can't be that. But if you go over by Gemini you will find lots of wood and from the looks of it it is bigger then the wood used on Gemini.

I'm pretty sure all that wood is for the Gemini. It's starting to get old and has been having alot of replacements lately...notice the whole left stairway all the way up the lift hill? and in a few other places.

Coasters? i thought those were those things you put under drinks? ...am I on the wrong site?

The markers I saw were not in the clearing. They were in the wooded area right around Iron Dragon.

:)

Gemini is on a 3 year plan to have all of the lumber replaced. Gemini is coming upon it's 25 year!!!

Now this is interesting. Gemini's 25th birthday next year. Hmm. What would CP do to celebrate it? Remember when it was built? It was the tallest wooden coaster in the world. It broke a world record the year it debuted.

Gemini wasn't the tallest woodie, it was the tallest coaster period! I think there will be something like Magnum's 10th celebration.

Gemini has never been the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world.

Exactly.

Because it is not wood.

Has anyone else seen the wood stakes in the woods by ID? Sounds good RanMan, it might have something to do with area 51.
Where exactly are these wood stakes? Next time i'm at the park (probably sometime this week) i'll try to get some pics.

RanMan said sit in the left side of the train, and second turn before the second lift. When I rode it about a month a go there was dirt piles and tree roots in a pile near there, that might be the area he was talking about.
I'll back corey up in regards to the stakes. I think they can be seen during the turn right before the wecond lift hill. They are right by a big dirt/brush pile.

I apologize if this has been asked recently, but any of you lucky ducks up and around cedar point - anyone know if there has been any recent actions in area 51? Movements, modifications, sounds, etc. Thanks!

I'm going to CP this Sunday and I'm definantly gonna take some pics. I just want to know how to show them here. Or what websites to go to post them and then show you all them there. Any websites or info?

You can go to webshots (www.webshots.com) and set up an account. Then you can post pictures through their website (it's free).
