I know change is good and I love all cedar point has done over the years, but has cp lost some of it's old time charm that helped make it what it is today?
I don't think that it has. Cedar Point has blended in the old with the new. Most of the buildings at Cedar Point are old. I mean just look at the Coliseum it's 94 years old. But the thing about it is it looks like it was just built.
Plus there are other old things that give Cedar Point an old time charm.

Mantis How Much Can You Stand?
I think instead of seeing it through your eyes (a regular at the point) look at it through a first time visitor. If I went down to Kennywood then I would say it still had its old time charm, but if I came to Cedar Point, I would say it was a very up to date park with a nice theme in the back. There arn't many roller coasters or rides that point out that Cedar Point is an old park. So I think to all us common folk yeah the PO!NT is has its old time charm but to first timers I would say not.

MF...taking thrills to new heights!
I don't know whether or not Cedar Point has its "old time charm," but it certainly has some kind of charm. I am more and more awed with this park every time I visit. It is gorgeous and it makes my eyes dart from one spot to another like a little kid to see all of the action.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
I was a bit sad when I heard Millennnium Force's location. Fronteir Trail has always been like a hidding place from the large steel monsters. It was the place I could go to make my own candles and the only thing I could hear was laughter and the occasional train wistle. Now I will hear the roar of Millennium Force. I guess I can always hide out with the old pinball machines and Frogger in the arcade.
-------------
Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
From what I hear MF is really quiet.. The only thing you will hear is lots and lots of screams!
-------------
"Who needs drugs when you have Cedar Point."
MF is realy quiet, compared to the other coasters at CP, especialy the B&M's.

"Got a green light, got a green light...but your going nowhere" Filter-The Best Things
A significant source of noise for most any coaster other than sreaming fans is the anti-rollback strip that the "safety dog" engages with a clanking sound all the way up to the top of the lift. I believe that MF, with its elevator type cable system, uses a different method for its anti-rollback protection. Does anyone know how it works?
I was driving down the main CP causeway and was awed from MF. That there reminded me of the CP charm, hearing people scream on magnum, mantis raptor, seeing the smiles of people getting off those coasters, watching people ride those for the first time and thanking their friends for making them ride it. I am ready for another year.

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
Instead of the anti-rollback strip there will be a system that involves magnets, I belive(no noise!)
Once Snake River Falls opened, the back end of the Frontier Trail ceased to be "quiet".
However, if you're still looking to "get away from it all", here are a few ideas...
Leave the park from the Magnum exit and take a walk around the tip of the peninsula over to Sandcastle. The only thing to disrupt the peace of this beachwalk will be the occasional Magnum train.
Leave the park from the Oceana exit (or whatever it's called these days) and take a walk along the beach in front of the Breakers.
Check out the Breakers lobby for a cool relaxing break, sometimes with a piano player providing the entertainment.
Paddlewheel Excursions is still a quiet relaxing ride, even with the corny jokes you'll have to endure. :)
Two of my favorite getaways are the Sky Ride and the Giant Wheel. Neither of these is the old Frontier lift for tranquility, but both give you a breather and allow you some quiet time for you and your party. The GW should be even more spectacular this year along the beach.
Finally, the IMAX theatre is a nice place for a nap :)

CP is an old park that has a charm that isn't rooted in any single building, ride, or year. Its a park thats charm is rooted in the part it played in the lives of folks for generations. Folks shouldn't look for a historic part of the park, or a signature antique ride. Though CP is as old or even more so than almost any other park in the US, it simply kept moving ahead.
Cedar Point is today what it was intended to be. A modern attractive park, whose charm can be seen in the tradmark smile on the faces of departing guests for over 130 years. You may not know of CPs history, but folks from any era would recognize that smile. The rides have come and gone, as have the buildings and shows. But its the experience which has never changed. And that is something no record, or media hype will duplicate or beat.

Hey nathanWLB, Your exactly right! Can't wait to get there.
Duane, thanks for bringing those quiet, charming spots out in to the light. It's those little things everyone should get to discover and experience atleast once in a while when up at the Point, instead of running around trying to catch the next roller-coaster. It's surprising how much I hear people say, "I never knew this or that was here" or" Wow this is beatufiul." You just have to take the time to look for it. I only hope that when I have a family, they will love and enjoy Cp as much as I already have.
And of course, Nathan: Very well said, as always.
I nominate that for, uhhh, well short composition conclusion of the moment. ;)

If Nathan keeps making statements like that, he'll get a call from Mr. Hildebrandt about writing copy for the park!

I speak from the heart. I've not seen any video other than CP memories and parts of one I don't know the name of. I just remember the photo on page 217 of Cedar Point, Queen of American Watering Places. A group of women posing for a picture with a sign that says "Leaving Cedar Point after a Big Day"...."Coming Home Broke."
