Seems like everytime I've been at the park, 8 times so far, its always down half of the day. Anyone know why?
Haven't noticed. It's always running when I'm there.

Every time I've gone it's broken down, which seems normal. It just really sucked that a rare 20 minute wait turned into almost 2 hours due to a breakdown. I just hate that I can't be sure if it's going to be a short wait or long, especially since I think TTD is kinda boring... but that's a whole other conversation.
Its not only running great, but opens with the other early entry rides. We were there this past week and it was open every day at or slightly after 9am.

If you think TTD is boring, why did you not exit the line as soon as it went down?

If you think TTD is boring, why did you get in line in the first place is the better question...
Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!
God I so hate being inconvenienced by things like other people getting in front of me. Stupid waits. Stupid lines. Stupid rides. Dumb crowds. Why do so many dumb people have to come to MY park?
Promoter of fog.
In the 4 years I've been going (5 visits total, for 7 days at a stretch), I have never seen Dragster down for any extended period of time. Barring storms rolling in, its been running like a champ. Otherwise, just a minor technical delay that usually means half the queue will bail making the rest of us get on all that much faster :) \mm/
I don't mind minor bits of downtime. Like Jax mentioned, it gets rid of a lot of impatient people. Of course I don't really criticize them for it since it's probably their only trip and they don't want to spend it in a line for a ride that's not working. Though it's sad that I can tell how long a downtime is based on where maintenance is and other factors like train position. Of course I keep it to myself since I don't mind a shorter line...........and since no one listens to me in line anyway. lol
I guess that's what curiosity and an abnormal interest in a single rollercoaster gets me. Ask anyone I know at how good I am and you'll laugh a bit on the inside and perhaps question my sanity. That is unless you haven't already done so. :D

I'm not an impatient person, but I still have never gotten over the stigma of 2003 and 2004. If Dragster goes down while I am in line, it's hard for me not to bail because of those early years and many failed attempts to ride.

I wonder if the weather this summer is overwhelming the cooling system in the power house? The opening year it was determined that the temps were much higher than what was encountered with Xcellerator in CA. Hydraulic drive systems get real finnicky if you don't keep the fluid temps within a certain range. The viscosity decreases and everything goes south, especially at the pressures and volume that are involved with the launch system.
That most definitely could play a part.
Chuck, let me know next time you go. I'll accompany you in line and lend you my "professional" observations if they come to be in need of use. :D You'd be surprised just how quickly they get things back up. The thing that seems to take the longest IMO is switching out a blown proxy for a new one. I don't know why, but those stupid green things are such a pain. It's good to know there 200 more than there needs to be. ;)
Of course there are other things that take longer (cable for example) but they're few and far in between. The one major thing is pray it doesn't get struck by lighting. During one of my visits this year, it was struck multiple times by lightning and fried soooo many things that it took maintenance all night to make repairs. I thought it was going to be down all of next day, but it was up and running within a few hours.
So never doubt maintenance, they're amazingly quick at what they can do.

When I was at the park last week, I did see somebody on the roof of the launch building working on what appears to be the AC unit. The ride was down at the time. I imagine the heat could certainly take a toll on the rides.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
