Has anyone just went to Cedar Point for the beach?

Cedar Point has the most beautiful beach along Lake Erie, it is wide, Cedar Point keeps the sand clean, and the beach is not over crowded.  Has anyone ever gone there to just go to the beach and forget about the rides at Cedar Point, slides at Soak City, and thrills at Challange Park.  I know that I have not, but I enjoy the beach very much.  I am the type of person that can ride the wildest rides many many times and relax and soak up the rays on the beach of Lake Erie.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the rides alot more than the beach, but I still love to lay out on the sand and soak up the rays.  Keep in mind that the original draw to Cedar Point was the beach!  It was pretty much the main attraction, you wouldn't be cool if you didn't get in your suit and splashed in the Lake!  You don't see as much of it today because of Soak City, the pools at all of the resorts, and all the excitement going on inside Cedar Point.  I guess Power Tower, Millenium Force, Corkscrew etc... is just more exciting and intense than soaking up the rays.
We soaked up some rays while sitting at the Swim Up Bar at Soak City...Does that count?

people did 100 years ago when there werent' Power Tower, Millenium Force, Corkscrew etc.
Acctually you aren't supposed to use the beach if you aren't staying at a resort, CP  or soak city. I have anyway though. Its the best beach up there

Yes, the beach is great, but I long for the days when they let you go much farther in the lake. During the 60's, 70's and 80's the swimming area extended much, much further into the lake and you could get to the deep water. The knee deep water they limit you to now is a mistake on CP's part IMHO. I know they mention the safety issues, but come on, they could come up with something a bit creative and extend the swimming area.

Actually, there is a beach on Lake Erie that is better than Cedar Point's. It is five miles away in Huron next to the mouth of the Huron River where the factory is. This beach has sand that is just as clean and water just as clear (if not clearer) than Cedar Point's. However, there are no ropes indicating how far you are allowed to go out, and the water doesn't come up to just your knees like Cedar Point's beach. This also the best people watching beach that I've ever been to. The only drawback to the Huron beach is that you have to pay $3 for parking, which still beats CP's $7 charge. I have been to many beaches along Lake Erie, most of which are plain filthy, but this beach is the single number one best beach there is with Cedar Point's as my second best.

I thought the beach was for the use of CP guests as well. You mean you can use the beach if have a season pass, or have paid the unday Admission?  You used to be able to do so.

From Cedar Point's web site:

"The Cedar Point Beach is for use only by guests of Cedar Point, the Cedar Point Resorts and Soak City."

Well it sounds like then its fine if you've bought admission to the park.  They just don't want people driving to the point for the beach alone which is understandable.  Imagine how packed it could get if they opened it up to everyone?  Traffic alone could be a disaster.
