Harley Davison day?

I've heard a rumor that the Harley Davidson corp. buys the park for a day and all of their employess come for free. After hearing about "AAA Day" it reminded me about this. Is there any truth behind this? Thanks

"...and enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point, America's 'Roller Coast'"
The only companies I know of that have "bought the park" were Longaberger and Saturn. In Saturn's case I think the park was still open to the public but I don't remember.

It was weird seeing all of those Saturn's lined up in the parking lot. It looked like the world's largest Saturn dealer.

WIth the exception of the AA Day in 2000. The only other company I know that has bought out the park for it's own people's use has been The Longaberger Basket Co.

They usually get the day before the park opens to the public. I haven't heard if they are doing it this year or not.

Yeah.. The Saturn day was also a general public day. There are alot of companies and organizations that have events there while the park is open is open tothe public. Saturn, Centry 21 Reality used to do it in the 80's (went to ALOT of those as a kid), Whirpool, ARC and a bunch of others.

The park was closed to the public on September 9, 1995 for a buy out. I think that one was Honda.

Oh yea, I forgot about the Honda day.
I would be happy to buy out the park just for you guys. If I could afford it.

Dream on...

CP fan since 68.

My father worked for IBM in California and they used to "rent out" Disneyland from 8pm-1am once a year. We got rerides until we turned green and it was amazing how "empty" the park seemed.

Yes Longaberger is having their '03 outing at CP. For a basket company to be able to afford to buy out an entire amusement park is one of the many reasons I refuse to spend $150.00 for a basket. I am not sure about Honda, I know they switch from PKI and CP so not sure if '03 is CP or PKI. Although AAA day in 2000 was great (1st ride on MF! :)) I do not believe they are planning another one.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

Jo, I agree but my wife does not. She thinks the Longaberger baskets are a good deal. That, for me, is a problem.

Anybody been to Dresden (Longaberger-land)? That is quite a place. The whole town is basically owned by the family. The corporate headquarters building is shaped as a (you guest it) basket.

They also have one of the nicest golf courses in all of Ohio. Getting on ain't no picnic (basket).

I always said (especially recently) that if I won the lottery, I'd do a buy out day and take my family and friends up to the point for a visit. I didn't win the big powerball, so unfortulately there will be no big "buy-out" for my folks. ;) Out of curiousity, does anyone know how much it costs to buy the park out for one day? (heck I was gonna spend my imaginary dollars on that no matter how much it cost!)

You basically have to buy a set # of tickets. The # is somewhere around 20,000 is what I once heard but not sure if it's fact or not.

Do the math at $40+ a ticket..

Chief Wahoo, I have been to dresden. In fact, I used to work for The Longaberger Company before I started at Cedar Point. I live about 15 mins from the factory and Dresden.

It wouldn't be just a matter of buying all of those tickets. For every ticket, the park assumes the guests will spend their $40+ per capita. They wouldn't do it so you and a dozen friends can have the park to yourself.

I never came across the idea about how much money each individual would have spent in the park. I did however think about this and who knows, it may factor into the cost of a buyout: What about all the rooms that are in the resorts? If you buyout the park that day, why would anyone rent a room there? Granted, there would be people coming and going from the day before and the day after but there is still that day when most people wouldn't pay for a room there without going to the park so perhaps that would indeed weigh into a buyout price.

Longaberger books quite a lot of rooms for their buyout. You have to remember that most of the sales associates for Longaberger live outside of Ohio.

Perhaps, but the production people who make up the bulk of the company do live in Ohio.

Yeah, I don't know how many they employ at their headquarters. In any event, they book enough rooms at Breakers to make it worthwhile to open the hotel to them.
