Hard Rock/Planet Hollywood

Hey Guys!

I've been thinking... wouldn't a Hard Rock Cafe or Planet Hollywood be good in the Cedar Point area? I mean, if you put it on the causeway, like where the current East of Chicago Pizza place is located, it would draw people from the city, from the resorts, and from other area attractions (i.e. Big Bear Lodge) 'cause you wouldn't have to pay for parking to go there. I 'spose it'd do good business inside the park also, but the marketing would be great for the park. Planet Hollywood/Hard Rock t-shirts with coasters on 'em and the Cedar Point logo (Sort of the way they do it in Orlando)..... they'd sell like hotcakes if you ask me. Just wanted your opinions....

That would be sweet!

I'm heading to the this Saturday!! I will be at the park Tuesday and Wed! Oh I can't wait~

I know Planet Hollywood went bankrupt, but still has some locations... Hardrock would be very cool. But where would they put it? LOL. I would imagine it would work very nicely b/w Magnum and Corkscrew... or toward the back of the park.

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

Re-read the inital post. Jaydubs suggested it be put just before the causeway.

In the early 90's, when Hard Rock was cool, I used to think it would be great to have one anywhere near me. Now that I've been to a few, including the one in Cleveland, I think they suck. The food is average and the pricing high. The only redeeming value they even have is the rock artifacts.

When the company bought the Radisson, there was some talk about bringing a Planet Hollywood or an All Star Cafe to the current off-point Friday's location. One of the two companies, I don't remember which, was even contacted.

While the place might do gangbusters during the season, Sandusky would not support that type of restaurant the other 7 months out of the year.

I agree with Jeff, their food isnt that good. It's a novelty type place that isnt as cool as it used to be. It is overpriced for average food.

Cedar Point is much too seasonal for a place like that, unless they put it more near a populated area such as the mall, but that would defeat the purpose of wanting it near the park.

What if the park added something along the lines of a Downtown Disney or Universal CityWalk? I could see that being somewhere on "mainland" Sandusky and drawing year-round visitors. Great Bear Lodge does draw visitors to Sandusky over the offseason months, and if the park had something like this, it wouldn't have to be seasonal. It might even become a getaway for Sandusky residents!

(If you don't understand the relevence, CityWalk is home to Orlando's Hard Rock and Downtown Disney is home to Planet Hollywood.)

I've been thinking lately that, despite the fact that the park does NOT have a space problem (don't turn this thread into THAT argument again!), if the park did wish to have additional space on the penninsula, they could always move Soak City to the mainland. It is already a separate charge attraction, and they don't have the 2-hour passes any more, so I don't think it would hinder business there any. (Assuming the provided busses for Hotel guests, or even park patrons.)

Just my thoughts!

JayDubs, It sounds like a nice idea, those areas (Downtown Disney & CityWalk) are pretty much self sustaining seperate from the parks. There are a lot of stores, eateries, and entertainment places there. But in reality, with CP being seasonal, you would need a larger vacation/resort minded area to pull it off successfully. CP is big, a great park and a big draw, but many more people go to Orlando due to its year round availibility, numerous attractions and resorts.

I would like to see a Rainforest Cafe by or in the park, but with the seasonal opening, it wouldnt attract a major crowd in the off season.

I hope I someday will be proved wrong by this. I do like development in the park. I do spend a good amount of money there, but I want to see more attractions/rides, not more eateries and stores.

I remember in a recent newspaper interview (I posted it here somewhere, I can't find it though, the topic was somethng like "Cedar Point - Year Round") one of the execs said they are trying to turn CP in to a all year resort.

Sparty, Commercialization of parks takes away from its charm. We can get commercial food anywhere outside of the park. We want unique places.

Its a bad idea. I just noticed the Kodak sign in front of the SkyRide. I never recalled that there.

Its too cheesy to see ads all over the park. It's bad enough Jeff throws them down our throat at every click.

We need a Pop-Up Stopper for the park soon.

Just kidding Mr. Putz, I turn off my pop-up stopper for you.

Uh hu.... :-P jp
