Harbour Belle Cruise

I was told about this yesterday and I just found the link and got the email from funtimes. I think it is very cool and I hope it is successful for the park.

I wonder if they finally found a use for the boat that was supposed to transport Radisson guests back and forth between the park. I think that fell through when the little bay area around Friday's and Radisson was deemed to shallow for the draft.

It would have been neat to be on that cruise on July 4th.

You're right, Chief Wahoo, this is the same ship the Radisson was supposed to use.

I talked to Marty at the Marina just now because the cruises sound like a pretty cool thing to do, especially at sunset. She said they aren't taking reservations for the trips just yet, they're waiting for the boat to be inspected. The trips will start Friday, if & when the ship passes inspection.

I can't wait! I have always wanted to go around the park on a boat!

As big as I am on getting as many coaster rides in as I can while at CP, this really caught my eye when I read about it in the e-mail. It sounds like a really neat thing to do, especially considering CP's storied history with boats on Sandusky Bay. I also can't wait to check it out!

World's first strata-coaster!

It sounds like a great addition. I'm going have to do both times though, to see the park in the daylight and after dark.

Isn't the radisson land locked by the causeway, the point itself, and the chausee? How would a large boat get to the marina?

Also, I'm seriously considering going on this, has anyone here been on it? if so, is it worth doing?

There are two bridges on the Causeway - a high bridge and a low bridge. Boats are able to travel under the high bridge.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up for me, I completely forgot about that. My bad. I hardly ever take the causeway so I forgot about that

I made reservations today to go on this cruise next Monday (7/28). I'm assuming that means the boat has passed inspections? Has anybody been on this cruise yet? How was it?
The boat passed inspection last Friday, & is good to go. The trips today were cancelled due to weather. I'm planning on going tomorrow, weather permitting. I'll post my thoughts on the cruise tomorrow or Wednesday.
Enjoyed a cruise on the Harbour Belle last night. Apparently these cruises aren't well known, as my wife & I plus our two kids made up twenty percent of the passenger load. This situation made for plenty of good seating available on the 125 passenger boat.

We went on the 8:30PM cruise, which allowed us a great view of the sunset over Sandusky Bay; plus the beautiful sights & sounds of Cedar Point from the water, after dark. The route takes you straight from the CP Marina to Sandusky's Battery Park, along the waterfront, then past the coal docks. We then headed back towards CP, following the channel, past Johnson's Island. Unfortunately, when we got to the area off of the Mean Streak, the lake was kicking up some pretty hefty waves. The Captain decieded to forego passing by the Marblehead Lighthouse because of the heavy seas. We turned back into Sandusky Bay, & retraced our route along the waterfront, then back to the CP Marina.

I must say, if you've never seen Cedar Point from the water at night, this cruise is a must do. And it's a bargain at $6.95 per adult, with the coupon at: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/trips/coupons/couponnew.cfm

I went on the 6:30 cruise last night. The lake waters was calm so we got to go around the whole Cedar Point peninsula (sp?). I quite enjoyed seeing CP from the water, and also there was a ship at the coal docks being loaded with coal as we went by, so that was interesting.

We got a lot of good pictures of the skyline, MF, Magnum, and Mean Streak. And the food on the boat is nice too! :)

Eric: That coal freighter was finishing loading when we went by; then we passed him under weigh outbound in the channel as we were coming back-it was pretty awesome! We passed within about fifty yards, and the size of the ship was impressive, especially to my boys.

We didn't eat on board. You say the food was nice. How were the prices? A twelve ounce Budweiser was $3.00-I thought that wasn't too bad.

They have lunch platters that are $5.95. I had a roast beef sandwich, and you also get a bag of chips. There's different platters to choose from too. I can't remember exactly what kind of food, but they had maybe 5 different kinds.

I went on the 8:30 cruise on July 24th. My family was at CP for five nights and this was one of the most relaxing and beautiful parts of the trip. Seeing all of the rides and hotels lit up at night was a great experience. The music that was played on the boat was also very cool. I hope CP offers this next year!
I was on that cruise as well...wasn't it lovely? Seeing the park lit up at night from the water was an almost surreal experience. I've always wanted to see the point from the perspective of the water, but of course, as a broke college kid, I can't exactly afford a yacht to go cruising around Sandusky Bay whenever I please. This is the perfect sailing opportunity for anyone on a budget. In short: I highly recommend it! In fact, I encourage everyone to give it a try, because I am sure the attendance could use a boost (it was rather sparse on my cruise). Happy sailing! :)

The 8:30 cruise was awesome. I've never seen the park at night with the lights on from a distance. The view from Sandusky bay was unlike any I have ever had of CP. We got to see both sides of the peninsula, too. The most notable things to see were the Breakwater Cafe, Breakers Rotunda lights, the Big Wheel, Millenium and the Mean Streak. There wasn't much narration on the cruise, which was okay since it was supposed to be relaxing. I noticed that the woman's voice on the narration tape was the same as the taped voice in the Bluestreak's loading station. The cruise also went by the city of Sandusky and the coal mines. Although this cruise was cool, there weren't many riders. Spread the word, Harbour Belle is worth the money.

I was with Eric that trip... I'm not a boat person, but I quite enjoyed it. Until he almost dropped my digital camera off the side...... ;)

Hmm... maybe I should open a site or something with all these pics...
