Happy Friar to be remodeled! Fries!

I just saw the permit for Happy Friar remodeling to 2500 square feet on Facebook! My single favorite restaurant in the park will hopefully become much better. Maybe I can enjoy a fry without a seagull eating them when I go to refill my ketchup?

Take that Hot Potato, your move ;)

Snoopy-Dog loves those loaded greasy cheesy plates of goo. On a 90 degree day he was pleased he could take care of business nearby.

Interesting, I was expecting to see a 'Chickies and Pete's contract has expired' before something like this. First guess is that it's getting the Corral/French quarter indoor double queue treatment.

If they stick with the fries/cheese on a stick theme, it would be nice to see some of the special event menu items become more permanent fixtures. (maybe even on the meal plan).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an on-site bathroom somewhere in this 2500sqft expansion. That way, one could theoretically spend all day inside of the Happy Friar without the necessity to leave, if you know what i mean ;) Also, can the Friar serve up some Potato vodka cocktails, or am I just hoping for too much?

I am definitely all for it, but I am curious as to how they will do it since Woodstock Express is directly behind. Happy Friar

Think of CP expanding the stand northward toward Gemini. The current stand sets way back from the main midway.

The line management at this location was never desirable. I’m thrilled for this. It’s my favorite dining location in the park and the one most likely to be used if we snack in the park at all.

Just hoping they don't eliminate the seating area next to it to expand in that direction. The operations at that stand always seemed to be super slow considering they basically have one menu item and drinks. I thought it was probably due to the inefficient layout. Having said that, I'm not sure I want my Cedar Point fresh cut fries sitting in a large pan and just getting scooped out as I walk by and then sit there getting cold while I make my way through the payment line. Not sure what the best answer is, but I am not sure this location lends itself well to the indoor double queue quick service setup.

It would be way too much to ask for 2500 sqft, but it would be cool to see it expanded all the way to the train tracks. Incorporate the drink/icee stand. Replace the seating area with heated/ac indoor dining. Double down on the fresh cut aspect and let people watch their fries being made. Build a new boneville scene on the back side.

I agree. the line at the Happy Friar has to be the worst in the park. Not sure which window to order from. I always seem to pick the slowest window. People cut because it is not obvious which window each person is waiting for. And the Fries take absolutely forever sometimes.

But the product is top-tier. As long as the quality of the fries is preserved with the remodel, I'll be a Happy Friar ;) Hopefully the square foot expansion also comes with a menu expansion.

Sit tight fellas ;)
