For those living under a stone today is Magnum's 14th birthday! Hopefully it will get repainted at the end of the season. ;)

Who knows maybe I will work the ride for a while this year. ;) If not I can always go for 3000!

Dan, i have a quick question. have you ever gotten a perfect game on Skeeball at Cedar Point? by perfect i mean getting a 900 at the Coliseum Arcade $0.25 machines. that could be another goal if you havent already done that...

Wow! 3000. If I had a goal it would be 100 right now. I had 18 rides total last year, and I hope to top that early this season. With 3 laps under my belt now, and 33 from 2001 and 2002, I think I can do it.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to perhaps the greatest steel roller coaster of all time!!

I love the Magnum. It is probably the most important amusement ride I have ever ridden. It literally took Cedar Point from a popular regional park into a worldwide destination. Do you remember CP before the Magnum? How many of you were first introduced to CP because of Magnum?

It is kind of sad in a way that the Magnum is no longer everyone's number one steelie anymore. {It's not mine either} but that is progress.

If you remember the Magnum was the first steel coaster to crack many enthusiasts top 10. In fact the Magnum was the first steel coaster to crack Inside Track's top ten. Inside Track was a amusement park newsletter that for a time highly regarded in the industry and used by parks to promote themselves{much like Amusement Today is used now}. IT went belly up around 1997 but that is another story.

The Magnum also won over many enthusiasts that at that time had a definate preference for wood coasters and regared steel coasters as novelties and passing fads.

Long live the Magnum!

The Japanese thing went good. They were over my house for about 2 hours last Friday night, and then they filmed me on Dragster three times opening day, and once on Magnum and they interviewed me a few times around Dragster. They claimed that their show is going to air in the next three weeks and that I should have a copy in about a month!
