..to George Arthur Boeckling, the man who turned Cedar Point into the Queen of American Watering Places. Had he not died in 1931, he would be 140 years old today, February 2.

I'm going to have to argue that, Dave.
If he hadn't died in 1931, certainly he would have died another time.
It's pretty unlikely that he'd have lived to 140, don't you think?

You have a good point there. The po!nt is, if he were still alive, 02/02/2002 would be his 140th birthday. :)
--Dave Althoff, Jr. Who notes that 02/02 is also the 25th anniversary of the day the shoulder bar was patented... :(

Clawing inside of his coffin? You mean like the wax figure inside the Eden Musee Wax Museum? It was of a man who had gone into a coma and they buried him. He woke up and they dug him back up. He had tried to get out and he had scratched himself and tried to desperstely get out. See the 1995 PBS special on Cedar Point and then you'll better understand.
However, Happy Birthday George.
Happy Birthday George!!!
Did you guys know that he was born in Michigan City, IN, my hometown?
