Halloween Haunt Cedar Fair Maxx Pass Question

Hi there,

First post here, let me start by saying I made my first trip from Toronto to Cedar Point last weekend and had a great time! I loved the maverick, MF and TTD. We enjoyed our time so much there we are thinking about returning in October. I have a question for anyone who might know.

We have a Cedar Fair Maxx Pass from Canada's Wonderland. Normally this does not allow us entrance to Fearfest (the wonderland equivalent to Halloween Haunt). Does anyone know if this would give us entrance to the Halloween Haunt event at Cedar Point?

Thanks so much in advance, Cedar Point was well worth the 6 hour drive and 3 days in the rain!!

Thanks,
Luke

Cedar Point doesn't have a separate admission cost for their Halloweekends. So yes, your Max Pass is good for entry into the park.

I believe Knott's Berry Farm out in California is the only Cedar Fair park that has a separate fee for their "Knott's Scary Farm" event.

LukinX,

I would definately plan a trip for halloweekends at CP. It is a blast and my favorite time at CP. We have a Maxx+ pass and go up every weekend in the fall as well as stay in the resort closing weekend. There are a lot of attractions and things to do. Have a fun and safe trip back!

Thanks for pointing that out TOPGUN1993. I didn't realize that Kings Island and Carowinds were going in that direction this year. While Kings Island prices aren't up yet, Carowinds however are. Season passes are not valid for this event. Pass holders will have to pay $19.99 to attend Scarowinds this year. I would expect KI to do the same.

Personally, being a Max+ holder, I wouldn't feel inclined to pay any additional money to attend one of these events. Thankfully, Cedar Point's Halloweekend's are still free with a season pass (or at least this year they are!).

A friend of mine was at KI yesterday. He stopped at guest services to ask if the Maxx Passes would be valid during the Halloween event. They told him that he would be able to use his Maxx Pass to get in.

Thanks for the replies guys, looks like another trip it is! At wonderland they gave a discount to season ticket holders, but there was a separate fee for FearFest (now Halloween Haunt as well). I'm assuming they will do the same this year, although maybe the new management will change things.

On the pricing issue, another strange thing I noticed is that a Cedar Fair Maxx Pass at Wonderland is around $100CAN after taxes and everything. Yet a Maxx Pass at Cedar point is $125US. Technically, wouldn't it be cheaper for people to purchase the pass at Wonderland and then use it at cedar point even if they lived closer to Cedar Point? I guess you would probably have to make one trip to Wonderland to get your pass issued. Might be worth it next year as Wonderland is getting a new B&W.

I'm reading that Halloween Haunt has a lot of shows and not just haunted trails, I think that is one thing fearfest was lacking. How are the wait times to get into these shows, trails and haunted houses? I'm assuming halloween weekend is the busiest time at the park?

Thanks again!

The issue for us passholders is that we can't get a parking pass for CP on our Canada's Wonderland pass. If you go 10 times a year (or more), parking gets very expensive.

Wait times for haunted houses are terrible if you are there on a Saturday night. Friday nights or Sundays are better.

As for the shows, well...all I can say is just get there early.

Fright Zone and the like can get pretty jam packed, especially if it's Saturday. There were a few nights last year when I heard CP was past their capacity! Nowhere to park, midways were full, and Fright Zones were all "one way traffic only". This did not make for an enjoyable experience at all.

Best thing to do is to avoid Saturdays at all cost. If you want to do the Fright Zones, do them on a Friday night instead.

^We were never one way last year. The addition of Fear Faire helped even out the crowds enough so we never needed to go one way. Honestly, most of the Saturdays really aren't as horrible as they're made out to be. There's just always one or two each year that are absolutely packed.
