Halloweekends Questions

Hello all! My family and I are leaving for Cedar Point in the morning, our first time with our # year old son, and my first trip since 2007! Very excited... Anyway I have a couple questions about what's been going on at Cedar Point and some HalloWeekends info as well.

Is Mean Streak closed for the season? I thought I'd read it closes earlier in the year...

When we were last at Cedar Point in 2007 there was an awesome live music show at the Red Garter Saloon. They did a bunch of pop/rock songs from the late 80s through now. Anything like that going on now?

Are Kiddy Kingdom, Planet Snoopy, and Camp Snoopy open into the evening, or do they close early? I know Cedar Point in general is very busy on Saturdays during HalloWeekends, but how are the crowds in the kid's areas?

We are staying at Hotel Breakers, first time staying at Cedar Point. How is the Perkins in the lobby? Is it worth while for breakfast, or is it just mob scene resulting in poor service and lousy food? We stayed at the Best Western on Cleveland Rd previously, they have a Perkins, it was awful...

Thanks for any info, we are very excited! My son has ridden Bear Trax and Bobsleds coasters at SeaBreeze here in Rochester, rides with his hands in the air. He's hysterical. He tells me he wants to ride fast roller coasters at Cedar Point! Here's hoping the weather holds out, can't wait to leave Friday morning!

Mean Streak is open.

Yes, there is a music show in Red Garter. It is changed up for Halloweekends. I haven't seen it to have an opinion or description though.

Friday has limited operation of all the rides throughout the park. On Saturday evening, Camp Snoopy will shut down for Carn-Evil. Sunday, everything should be running.

I thought Perkins was good. I hate driving off-property when I'm staying on-property.

For a chain restaurant, Perkins is very hit or miss. I had a good experience at the one in Hotel Breakers as well.

I'm going this weekend too and PRAYING that the rains hold off!

As mentioned elsewhere, rain during HalloWeekends can be one of your best friends in terms of reducing the crowd size.

I have stayed at Breakers for a weekend every Halloweekends for the past couple of years... we ate at Perkins once for breakfast and the experience was so bad we haven't gone back. It was fairly expensive, the service was bad, place was packed, food was marginal. It actually took so long we missed a good portion of our early entry. The last couple of years I've just driven out the causeway and gone through the drive-thru to bring McDonalds breakfast back to the room for everyone.

After the park closes, or if you come back to the hotel mid-day, I do recommend the TGI Fridays inside Breakers - the food is good, and it's relatively reasonably priced.

The Red Garter show for Halloweekends is usually a halloween "classic rock" show that's been worth checking out previous years.

I wish the Red Garter would have a rock show throughout the season.

I wish the Red Garter shows had a live band again.

Agreed.

The main season shows have generally still included a small live band, but the HalloWeekends show has been without one since 2009.

When they brought the live band back for the regular season, I was hopeful that would carry over to Halloweekends too, but sadly appears it did not..... The show is still fun, but a group of folks singing along to prerecorded tracks just doesn't have the energy that live music does.

I've seen this year's Halloweekends show at the Red Garter twice now. IMO, it's by far the best musical show I've seen at Cedar Point in a long time. Excellent voices on the singers and a good selection of songs. I would highly recommend it.

Good to know. We'll be there next Friday!

I have seen the show in the Red Garter and recommend it. I plan to see it every time I go to Halloweekends this year. I have not seen the magic show but have heard good things about it. I am looking forward to seeing the Halloween Hullabaloo, it is usually fun even if it is a little hokey. I have always enjoyed the Overlord speech but it is definitely better later in the season when it is more at dusk that it is this time of year. I am not much of a fan of the indoor haunted houses but of all of the outdoor zones this year, I liked Cutthroat Cove the best.

We love the breakfast Buffet at Breakwater cafe. Like someone said earlier I also had a bad experience at Perkins. The buffet I believe is 11 dollars which Perkins is just as expensive for hardly any food.

Edge of Madness is one of the best shows I have seen at any park. I wish Rockin the Point had more of an 80's rock feel during the summer.
