Hey, first time posting here, been reading the site for a bit but this is the first time I have a question that I haven't seen. I live down in Cincinnati, so I generally go up to Cedar Point once every year or so and do a 2 night stay, 2 days at the park. This year, it looks like the only weekends available are the last one in August (25th; which people on here said was terribly crowded) or in September during Halloweekends. I have never been to one of these, I know the park is open late at noon and stays open till midnight or so, but are all the rides open? Do these get really crowded? Are they more fun than a normal day? I just don't what to expect. Thanks ahead for any responses

This is all I could find on the web site. Limited ride availability on Friday evenings; some coasters and Camp Spooky closed. My family and I have not been there since 2005, but this is what I remember. Dogems are closed because it is turned into a fun house for kids. It is closed all weekend. Frontiertown was pretty much dark, but with the addition of Skyhawk and Maverick that my change.

Well it seems like Halloweekends will be the way to go. I know you can't predict crowds, but is it generally more crowded than normal days in the summer or not that bad? I can't wait to get back up to ride Maverick and Skyhawk (it has been 2 years since last being there), both look great. Also, I ususally try to stay at a park resort, I have done Breakers Express but does anyone recommend other ones that are good to stay at? One final question (I know), do you just buy the regular tickets for the Halloweekends or is it a special price/ticket?
Living in Cincinnati, PKI was my home park, but after being spoiled by Cedar Point and the rides, I can't even go to Kings Island, just doesn't cut it ride-wise. (you feel beat up after being there)

See this other Halloweekends thread about the crowds:

Halloweekends are regular ticket prices, except for Friday nights which are priced the same as a Starlight ticket (and usually you can easily find buy one get one free coupons for Fridays).
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I recommend Hotel Breakers. It's just a few minutes walk from the park entrance, which comes in handy on Halloweekends Saturdays, when you can potentially spend 13 hours in the park. Get a 2-night package, and it'll include 2 full-day tickets and 4 twilight tickets. Strangely, the package will only cost $20-30 more than the rate without package, sometimes even less.
And whatever you do, have fun!

On Fridays, most of the main rides are open. I really recommend going on Fridays vs. Saturdays for things like Fright Zone.
Saturdays are just crazy. Wayyyy too busy, usually.
Sundays, again, are the day to go. There is one Sunday when you are able to catch Fright Zone, Fear Faire, CarnEvil, etc...and that's the Sunday in October with I think Veteran's Day following.
I have been to this during that time, and it's not too busy.
Halloweekends are my favourite time of year to visit the park, by far. I've been lucky enough to never have an insanely busy Saturday the past few years. This year I hope to visit during Halloweekends at least 2, if not 3 times. Maybe early September and late September, then closing weekend. We'll see how that goes, my car already has almost 283,000 km. I can't afford to put 500km on it ever time I visit CP. It's time to find some other friends who will drive.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
