Halloweekends or Haunt??

The Tricksters for that matter on the Midway give an effort especially Sara and Bradley.

Sara is amazing. I think her character and my character may have had a thing for each other. Monsters gotta get some love too. :)

But like Zeek said, last year was miserable as far as the weather went, and most people have no idea how hard we work or how hot those costumes get. The volunteers really ticked me off at times, especially the ones from Lair of the Vampire since Fear Faire has to share a break area with them.

I agree that the talent in the houses is generally lacking, but I think the ability to hire that many people has been the only hinderance to having better talent. I know every year we want more Screamsters than we usually end up with. So if you've ever thought about being a Screamster, clear off your weekends starting in September and join us this year! *end shameless plug*

If staffing wasn't an issue, CP could do what they do at Knott's, and start the newbies off in the houses and make them pay their dues before they can work the zones.

I bet a lot of boyz like Sara. I imagine she had to use her whistle a few times.

That sucks some of the volunteers are punks. Sounds like they need some sort of divider to keep them separate from the Screamsters on break. Walking thru the haunted houses you can tell which ones might be punks and which ones are there with a good attitude trying hard and having fun.

I was thinking how hot it might have been in your costumes and appliances since it so hot this season. Especially since a lot of the costumes are head-to-toe and layered or jumpsuits and some wigs which can be scratchy (an Underamour cap can help that). It seemed like a lot of you guys wear appliances instead of full masks. But it's one half dozen the other when it's that hot. I have a Don Post Michael Myers mask (the last version that actually looks like Capt Kirk) and a Fulci Zombie mask. Those things are like wearing a bag over your head. The condensation builds up in no time. You have to use talcum powder so the latex won't get bad over time. Store it on a styrofoam wig head so it keeps its form. That's why I'd rather wear makeup when I do something like that. Or maybe that's why I end up putting up displays and videotaping instead :) So yeah I can imagine how much a labor of love it was.

I think if Halloween itself wasn't so much fun or esthetically interesting they'd have a hard time finding enough people to work that time of year.

Yah, our latex masks got pretty bad. The makeup artists always powder them when we take them off, but they still only last 4 nights tops. Last season some people were destroying masks after one or two nights due to the sweat, which is why you saw a lot more partials and painted faces last year, especially toward the end of the season when mask supply was running low.

I usually only make it to the point a couple times a year - once in the spring with the school that I work for, and then a family trip to one of the resorts during an October for HalloWeekends.

I was looking on the CP site for resort package info and checked out the Halloweekends section, and I see they're already accepting Screamster applications. I noticed that it says that Screamsters will haunt the park's FOUR walkthourgh attractions. Hmmmm..... Interesting....

They've always counted Werewolf Canyon as a walk through even though it's not really a walk through (in my opinion) and it's not staffed by Screamsters. The Halloweekends site hasn't been updated for 2008 yet. And yes, you can apply at any time to be a Screamster, but they usually don't start hiring until late July or early August.

I can completely understand why they don't have Screamsters, or regular paid employees in the haunted houses because of hiring them all but I wish they could find some for Werewolf Canyon. I went through last year for the first time and I think it has much more potential, even moreso than the houses.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

This site is updated.... http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/visit/halloweekends.cfm ... that's where I saw the info. Maybe they'll try to have screamsters work WWC this year?

^^I agree, I think that WWC has the potential to be something truly great. Unfortunately it doesn't reach that potential because the volunteers that it is staffed by mostly dont care, and thats really such a gosh darn shame.

It would be fantastic if WWC was staffed by screamsters, or even if there was a fourth zone added. Realistically I dont see how it can happen, mostly due to the staffing issue. Enough people either end up quitting or getting fired or whatever that its hard enough to staff the three zones we already have.

I wish I had more juicy details about what exactly Cedar Point has up their sleeves this year. Sounds like it could be interesting.

Actually I was there :)

From some of the comments from Jeff and others it sounded like there was something a little more concrete that I didn't know already.

The mozzarella sticks were simply divine.

^ I think it's just that the things we heard about at the meeting have become more concrete than they were at the time.

Stressful...HA. Next time I am ordering the steak!

Stop making innuendos of inside information without spilling the beans on a public forum!

Its like Im stuck at the kiddie table at a holiday meal, only getting snipets of the conversation the adults are having and when I try to butt in, they only look at me, smile and ignore me :(

;)

:)

Haha, you just implied that Screamsters are adults. We may be so legally, but we try not to act like it. ;)

Haha, if anything, we all love doing our job because it's our way of delaying adulthood as much as possible.
