So I went to the park Columbus Weekend for Halloweekends and despite the long waits(which the park can't help) I was very impressed. The themeing was very good and the Fright Zones were very good. I saw some people said they were understaffed but from what I saw they weren't. I always had people jumping out at me in Fright Zone and in Fear Faire people coming out from the behind the walls, very good. And in CarnEvil i was impressed with the energy with the man with the chainsaw and the monkey with symbols. I also saw that the character with the trash can is now in CarnEvil and not Fright Zone anymore? And I saw he didn't have his normal trash can without the siren in it...kind of bummed about that, maybe they can bring it out for him soon. Other then that I was very happy with my trip, and hope to make it back again this year.
Revived this 18 year old "Zombie" thread, you know for Halloweekends. Anyone else going this weekend? I know the crowds are going to be insane until Sunday (expecting rain). I hope the recent tornado clouds of midges stay away, at least for my trip on Millennium Force. Don't want my white T shirt covered again with these critters.
Yeah I heard they started turning people away around 2pm. I know that's happened on some Halloweekend Saturdays but this is probably a record for a Friday!

So, we have a guest from out of town that suggested early Friday that we take a walk and asked if our passes allowed us in CP parking lot. She didn't want to go in the park, but rather walk the Boardwalk/beach. We had a nice stroll all the way back to the Campground and back and could already sense the mayhem & crowds pouring in. When we exited at 11:00 we took the Chausee and the inbound traffic was solid on that all the way to and including rt.6.
This weekend is a double storm. The Thursday night and Friday of NEOEA Day is always packed because nearly all of Northern Ohio has a school holiday and some schools opt to play their weekly HS football game at an alternate time. And Columbus Day Saturday is traditionally the busiest day of the year unless the weather is bad. Certain years, like this year, have NEOEA Day and Columbus Day weekend fall on the same weekend.
And in that brief moment, he walked the midways more than Carrie has done in her entire tenure as GM.

Columbus Day weekend has always been a hard pass. We're about 2 weeks (and one day) from the Face your Fear field trip; about 10 years ago we got forced to do it on this weekend for logistical reasons. We finally completed all the goal rides around 6:30, when we are usually done by 1:00.
And that was a Sunday.

Well we made it out alive after this past Saturday Columbus Day weekend trip. Got there at 2pm and had to park in the very last row of the main lot (by the Chausee gate entrance). 4 hour waits for Steel Vengeance, 2 1/2 hr waits for Raptor and Maverick. Any food location /stand had massive waiting times. Got thru all the haunted houses by 9:30 pm (indoor haunts opened at 6pm) except Cornstalkers which already had a 3 hour wait and nobody else was allowed to get in line. The Gemini midway and Frontier trails in the evening hours were a literal "mass of humanity" where it was wall to wall people. Looked like a mass exodus exiting a football game or concert at the same time, just way too crowded in those parts of the park. I did see the new wall construction area for Siren's curse across from the Iron Dragon station which was neat to see. Steady rain started around 10pm when we exited just in time along with thousands of others, all still worth the 8 hours we were there.
