Last night when i went to halloweekends..the screamsters were pretty bad..most of them when i was walking through fright zone were just talking to eachother or just hiding out or not doing a thing..same with Carn-Evil and mostly fear faire they didnt even scare barely. But Other then that my trip was good. Light crowds. But cedarpoint does need to do something about the way those screamsters scare they were PRETTY bad. except for the dude with the cane in the fright zone. *** Edited 9/15/2007 3:45:22 PM UTC by Jerreus***
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
I totally agree. I was there last night and the crowds were extremely light, less than 15 minutes for anything except Maverick which was around 45 minutes. The fright zone was pretty good, very dark and foggy and when I went through most of the actors were trying and succeeding fairly often at giving people a scare. But the houses were pretty sad. I understand it's opening night (which was pretty clear because the person letting people into the house was reading the script off a piece of paper) but even looking past that the people in the house weren't well hidden a lot of the time and most just poked their head out and said "boo." Not much to really be afraid off. Is there no type of orientation or training of how to be a successful actor?
This was my first trip to Cedar Point during Halloweekends and I'll probably go again but only for the lack of crowds that were there.
By the way, I got a "near" trimless ride on Magnum, my first. The breaks did grab a little but no where near as much as what I'm used to during the summer months. Now I can totally see why they are there. The bunny hops were insane. Best ride of the night and second for the season (just behind my first Maverick ride).
Well it sounds like they are still getting used to things. Once they get some more experience and the crowds get a little more heavy, I think the employees will be excellent as always.
Thrills Around the Corner!
You'd better go on a Friday or Sunday. Saturday crowds during Halloweekends are usually the most insane of the entire season unless it is really cold or rainy out.
Opening night is never a great night to judge the zones by. The new people have yet to find a niche, and for the most part, nobody has been assigned a particular location in the zone yet. I'm not sure about Carnevil, but Fear Faire and Fright Zone both let everyone roam on Friday so they could find areas of the zone they liked. Before we went out on Saturday I had everyone in Fear Faire assigned to a particular position. After some fine tuning, I was very pleased with how the zone was functioning on Saturday night.
The houses are staffed by volunteer groups, mostly made up of kids from fraternities and sororities. It can be kind of hit and miss depending on the motivation that group has.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
We were there Friday. The crowd was rather small. It seemed as if the number of screamsters equaled the number of people at times. I noticed they weren't as scary as normal, but that's because they were more exposed due to the small crowd. The element of surprise wasn't there. Though, as the night went on I think they got better. The crowd in Fear Faire about 11:30 was so small that one of the screamsters personally led my son and me around to the various carts which displayed maggots and such.
As the crowds get bigger, things will improve.
I was one of the "volunteer groups" that worked this weekend in the Layer of the Vampire house. It seems like most people on here went on Friday or Sunday to miss the big Saturday crowds. Well let me explain how boring working one of these houses are when only a few people come through an hour.
First off, our Team Leaders were lifeguards from Soak City, they had no idea what was going on anymore than we did. I am sure this will be better next weekend, but they couldn't tell us great hiding spots or anything of value that we going to help us scare people.
Second, the costumes they gave us were horrible. A few rags of clothes, fake teeth that didn't stay in, and a few masks, mostly the same masks over and over.
On Friday, were we not sure what we were doing. Plus there is a huge lack of motivation when a maximum of 50 people come in an hour. We could have a 15 minute period where none came in, but you still had to hide.
If any of you came Saturday, I think the story would have been different. We were into it with 3,400 people coming in the door, we had a constant flow of people. We had fun on Saturday, unlike Friday or Sunday. I personally have no voice right now because of working so hard. I would say it is the same for about half of the people that went with me. Saturday, people were constantly running out of the house scared to death, and a good number of people went through more than once.
Sunday was just like Friday, and after Saturday we were all beat. We still worked hard, but being open during the day seems to ruin the fun of being in a haunted house.
