Halloweekends - Missing It's Vibe?

plus to do it like it was originally you see the monsters for all of about 5 seconds before the train has already moved out of view so you can't do much if they aren't actually ON the train cars. One thing I know Knotts used to/might still do, is they have actually had outlaw type train jackers (during the regular season) they'd have cowboy types on the train in character and stuff. Nice simple thing to do that gives you a good immersion.

Knott's still does that and it is a lot of fun when riding the train. BUT, they also have different coaches then at Cedar Point. You do not board the train from either side per row but rather board at the front/back of coach and then walk down a center isle, like a real train car. This allows the actors to freely walk up and down each train car.

What could be fun is the train taking you to a location and dropping you off, then you have to walk back through a scare zone. Just like the Terror Tram at Universal Studios Hollywood.

^ That's the concept of Kings Island's haunted train ride. You get dropped off midway in the forest and have to walk back through a scare zone. I didn't get a chance to do it the last 2 years, but when I went 3 years ago, the scare zone was far too predictable / simple (just crates on the pathway that monsters popped out of), unlike the good variety that Trail of Terror used to have. It was a great concept with poor execution, but maybe it has improved in the last 2 years.

I went with my wife on sep.24-25 we noticed that a LOT of spots inside the haunted houses and haunted areas were lacking enough employees to run it at 100%.. I think they need more people working in the haunted houses is why they seem to be not as good.. I am going to try and get a job there seeing how they did seem quite short on ghosts and goblins... Maybe they don't have as many people working until October???

Screamsters has a very high attrition rate too, it is not an easy job and quite a few realize that after the first weekend and never come back.

When you wake up on a Sunday/Monday and can barely move you wonder what you got yourself into. Majority of people know the pain is very very worth it but quite a few can't handle it.

What he means by a high attrition rate is that being a Screamster is more physically demanding than new people anticipate, and consequently there are a lot of people who get hired, go for one weekend, realize they hurt all over come Monday morning, and then quit. This is especially true if there's a really rough crowd.

Between the physical activity, abuse from customers, and the mindset required being a Screamster isn't a good fit for a lot of people. But the people who can stick with it really enjoy themselves :D

What YZ said.

Screamsters is extremely demanding mentally and physically. Nobody believes it until they try it.

Glad you want to try it out you wont regret it!

Spot on 100%

The job is basically 4 hours (more if you're indoors) of non-stop physical activity using a lot of muscle groups that don't normally get used. I'm still a little sore from last weekend (the heating pad and Icy Hot have been my friends this week) but I'm ready to do it all again tomorrow!

For Alexander- at least as of last weekend CP was still hiring for Screamster positions. Go here and apply!
