I've been to Cedar Point before, and have a trip tentatively scheduled for September 21-23 of this year and noticed that this is during the Halloweekend time. I read somewhere in the FAQ's at cp.com that there is "limited ride availability" and that some coasters would be closed on Friday nights for the course of the holiday. Surely they would keep the big coasters open, as those are the main attractions, right?
Has anyone been at this time of the year and did you experience any ride closures?
Dragster was closed some of the time last year. Wicked Twister isnt open sometimes also. It just depends.
Let's Get Weird.
Good Luck with going on Saturday. During halloweekends, Saturdays are EXTREMMMMEELY PACKED, and all wait times are usually over an hour. On fridays, there are only a few"big rides"closed, and camp snoopy is closed (if you have little ones)
have fun!
^^ IIRC, other than the normal daily downtime, I belive TTD was only down for 2 days last year.

On Fridays, there are few rides that are down, but it usually depends on the weather conditions and how cold it gets. Saturdays are really packed. If you are going for the whole weekend, I'd recommend riding the smaller rides on Saturday. I prefer going on Sundays during the fall. It is not packed at all and all the rides are working.

You're kidding yourself if you think the coasters are the main attraction on a Halloweekends Friday night. ;)
But yes, they keep the big ones, and a few not so big ones open.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
We went a few times during Halloweekends last year, and after numerous Halloweekend Saturdays last year, this past weekend felt empty. They really do get quite crowded. Entire queues are full and more people flowing onto the midway. Having said that, you can still have a great day, I'd just take the above advice and not leave a ton of rides for Saturday.
And as Ralph said, the Halloween attractions will have lines forming hours before they open. So they are really no different than MF and TTD in terms of lines.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Ride closures for Friday are planned in advance. It doesn't depend on anything. It used to be simple. Everything back from Millennium to Magnum was closed. Skyhawk changed that last year, and I'm assuming Maverick will also be open this year. There should be an official announcement on cedarpoint.com at some point, I don't see it yet.

The main rides are usually open on Friday nights. Some of the medium coasters/smaller ones are closed a lot of times. If your a haunted house/trail person I would hit those up Friday. There is long waits and a little crazy to go to on Saturdays. *** Edited 6/26/2007 12:28:13 PM UTC by cmkbabie***

Yeah. I went a few years ago on a Saturday for Halloweekends and it was insanely packed. The wait for MF and dragster were both 3 hours. I waited 45 minutes for Mean Streak (I could kill my little cousins..) and then we waited 2 hours for Mantis. After that we got one ride on Millennium Force and just did haunted houses for the rest of the day. In terms of rides going down, I didn't notice any big rides not running, but just because of the crowd, I'm never going to Halloweekends again.
