Gum Lines Open

That's right, just got back from CP and the 2 lines closest to the ramp are back open. I don't know if it will stay like this. I think it is open now because of the FreeWay worker who always sits there now. It's nice to see it back in use. Let's hope people don't ruin it.

They were closed when I rode yesterday. Hmm..

Those rows haven't been open since May 2000. My guess is that a new employee didn't know that those lines are never to be opened.

I'm sorry, but uh, Gum Lines? Could someone explain that to me, it would be appreciated :)

The "Gum Lines" are the last two rows of the last set of queues before the ramp to the station. They are next to the wall for the ramp, and when they were open, people were sticking their gum on the wall. To combat the problem, CP closed the two rows.

I actually think that the theory about the FreeWay employee is a good one. It is very possible that CP opened the two rows intentionally, because now there is an employee already there that can make sure that people don't turn the wall into a gum wall again... we'll see.

Why not leave em closed and stay in the shade??

CP did not close those lines because of the gum, if you look at the rest of the park you would realize they could care less about gum. They closed them because it is so easy to line jump between queues there and to climb on to the ramp from the closest queue.

If they could care less about gum, then why do they continue to clean the "gum tree" next to the Mantis stairs to the station, and why did they clean all the gum off of the wall for the ramp of MF? Keeping the park clean is a major priority, it's one of those things that makes CP that much better than all the other parks out there.

Also you don't think someone would notice someone jumping over that fence on the ramp?!?!?

These lines were not open the last few times I went.

Why Don't they take out the Que rails inbetween and get rid of the chain and put a metal bar there if there not going to use them anymore?

I think Cedar Point should make a designated gum wall for Mantis and MF, then it will be like decoration. jk jk
If people would just be respectable and hold on to it until they found a trash can or put it back in the wraper and in there pocket until the next trash can it would make a big difference
I think it's worse than that... people actually do it because they think it's funny.

Every time I have gone to CP they always have that gum blaster thing out and a guy that cuts off a little part of teh midway so he can try and wash away the gum on the concrete. If they didn't care about gum why would they pay someone to do this.
Ahhh yes, the Gum Buster! :) The ride platforms also get gum busted and pressure washed with "Big Bertha" a couple times throughout the season. I'm sure they try to keep up with it on the midways, but you can only cover so much ground each day and by the time you cover most of the park, the area you started with is nasty again. At least they don't just let it go spiraling out of control. :)

"Big Bertha" is the pressure washer! ;) I didn't do it. I think it was done long before I arrived! :) The thing takes two people to wheel down the midway!
